Craiglist

Has any of you guys tried to sale anything on Craiglist? I have never purchased anything off Craiglist. About 2 months ago I listed an item for sale on Craiglist. To date, I have not received not one legitimate inquiry. I have received many that all have been some robot wishing to sell the item for me, or they have email addresses one can not respone too. Is this normal for Craiglist?

Re: Craiglist

As a Canadian, it is sometimes difficult to buy items from Craigslist. Though I do get a better response if I am able to call them instead of email or text. Missed out on a nice poster because the seller would not ship. I even lined up a member on this site to go over and get it from him. It stayed listed for 2 months after that.

Re: Craiglist

I usually put my phone number in adds i am trying to make money on and i only respond to phone calls i dont do the texting thing for selling things. Another thing that i also offer for larger items is delivery for gas money because i know that not everyone has a truck, but with that being said i will not ever deliver anything unless they come and look at the item decide for sure that they want it, then pay for it and give me gas money up front. When i built my 5.0 ranger i had some extra parts laying around that i posted on c list they sat there for so long that i had forgotten about the add but some guy called me one day and come and picked them up.

Re: Craiglist

Thanks for the replies. I encluded my phone # in the add. My answering machine is full of people wanting to sale the item for me. (no it is not my truck) I'm just disappointed with Craigslist.

J.Cagle, I'm not far from Liberal, but not actually from there. It is just the biggest town around, so I used it.

Well it is almost turky leftover time. Have a good day. Thanks for letting me rant.

Re: Craiglist

I bought my truck and damn near half the parts on CL, then sell off the crap I don't need/use/want there, too. Some great deals to be had, but I only deal local unless it's something I HAVE to have.

I bought a $1500 mountain bike frame off a guy in San Diego and paid to have it shipped. I got it for $300 and used PayPal to pay for it with no issues. That was my only non-local CL deal so far, though.

Hey Shorty, I sell alot of stuff on Craigslist and I ALWAY require an email response with a real phone number that I can call back. No phone number, no sale. Good luck!

Re: Craiglist

I just posted my truck on craigs list. A man about 15 miles came to look at it. He said he may be back to look at it. I will call him and tell him I plan to lower it if he does not buy it. Two other men emailed me. They both wanted to buy the truck site unseen for the asking price. They both were buying it for there dad. They wanted my paypal account. I would not give it to them. They were trying to rip me off. I think it was the person.

Re: Craiglist

Mine's on Cl, lots of lookers and a couple decent reasonable, honest offers. We'll see how it shakes out.
Normally have 3-5 on there at a time. We sell a lot of parts on CL and buy quite a bit, too, but nothing that is too far away. if local, we can at least check them out.

Re: Craiglist

can find odd items on CL though, found a NOS notchback on there for a song. Somthing I always wanted but was never gonna pay $700-$1000 for....... and people who sells thing cheap with or without knowing, use what ever is free or real cheap to list it.

there is that kiijiji site that ebay bought, same type of thing.

Re: Craiglist

I bought a '63 BW, '72 Cheyenne, '67 Buick Skylark, '67 Buick Special and a '49 Plymouth Special Deluxe on CL. I seem to buy better than I sell. Selling seems to be a pain but I've had my successes as well.

Re: Craiglist

I listed some wheels on Craig's List and within 24 hours, I had an offer-along with the scam that it was tied to. They wanted to send me more than the wheels were listed for and then have me cash their check and give the money to the transportation person.

NOT!

Re: Craiglist

I have bought and sold both...It seems like if you don't get any response your probably asking too much. That's how it works for me. I have a guitar on there right now that doesn't get much attention.......If you get the price down low enough somebody will call. But, I cant give stuff away either.

Re: Craiglist

I've put things for sale that I thought would never sell, but did- and quickly for asking price. I've had items sit a long time that I thought would be gone in a heartbeat.
You just never know. I have 3 adds up now that I've been renewing for a month and thought would be gone, or at least had an inquiry.

If you just want things gone- price them cheap and they will be gone. If you want a good price- you better have a lot of patience.
