Alan Complain they will make it right

I agree that it sucks they couldn't get it right the first time.

I had an issue with my frame and they powder coated it before I was done I asked them to blast first then call me to pick it up, so I could weld in my plates for boxing the frame.

Well they didn't, I took it and welded in my plates and took it back they powder coated the whole frame again. So now it has a double coating on it I can tell where it was done but it is a frame and not seen but they did make me happy with what they did to make it right.

I also think that your wife has a good idea if they go over it again it may take those ridges out but you wont know till they try but then if it don't you could end up with a junk hood too so it is chance you take.

That stinks Alan, I would make them try again, we try hard to make others life easy but they don't care to return the favor, enough to drive you crazy

that does suck big time...i agree with the other guys & would definitely complain as politely as possible...they owe it to you to make things right, especially considering the trouble you went through to get a hood worthy of your truck...maybe they can try your wife's idea first, & hopefully it works....i hope the guy owns up to his mistake & they get things fixed for ya

Alan, I'm stomping mad for you... with the time and patience you've taken on this project I do believe that they will make it right. but it really pisses one off to try so hard and get farked up so bad... Just wondering would long block sanding the hood take the ridges out... ??? Keep the faith, I have to believe that they will make it right...

After he saw the pics he has no choice to admit he messed up. So far they want to make it right. I have to take it over for them to see it in person.

Hopefully they won't warp the hood from blasting it again. What media are they using? Can't really see it in the pictures. Can you install thin pads under the ribs like some other truck have?

He said he was using the finest grit. Yes, I can put the pads in and will. It's the area on each side of the brace on the skin that is pushed in or down. I'm getting ready to take it back for some show and tell. I'm thinking if he blasted the under side adjacent to the ribs it will even it out. First I will ask which side he did last. If he did the outside last then that theory might work. It's a total assumption right now.

Pray for me. The hood is at the blaster. I explained to him the crazy idea of reversing the process kind of. He said he blasted the outside of the hood last so this idea might work. I told him to leave the ribs in and blast the underside along the ribs. I mentioned to just do one side and check to see if it helped. If so continue if not stop. I think it would work. The only concern is there is nothing above the skin of the hood to hold it down while applying pressure along the sides of the ribs. I think it might even out even with that in mind. They are very concerned of this situation and want to do whatever to make it right.

Thanks for all the support guys. The blaster dude is scared to do it, but I told him to take his time, use the same grit, pressure and angle and check it as he goes. He tried a little. I went to look at it ( he wasn't there). Can't tell any diffence yet. I mentioned to him to maybe put a rachet strap around the outside of the hood on top of the rib to keep that area somewhat it place. The strap will move some. The ideal way to do it is hold with the strap a piece of metal with the same curve of the hood and lay that on top of the hood. It wouldn't move as much. Is that clear as mud?

i shot a few pics with it outside for a better reflection before I hauled it over. It doesn't look to bad, but it is. BTW creepers make a good way to roll the hood around.

Also trying to troubleshoot my 2004 Tahoe rough idle.

alan about your tahoe, take the air breather stuff off and spray some carb. cleaner on the butterfly of the throttlebody! it gets built up and makes them run bad, mine would idle around 450-500 rpms and after went up to 600-650rpms

one more thing mine would have the rough idle more with the ac on and sitting at a light, the built up is more on the bottom of the butterfly! you can take the whole thing off and clean it, there are only three bolts holding it on 8mm or 10mm if i remember right, then theres the two small hoses for the coolant! i used the carb cleaner and an old toothbrush

Thanks for the advice. The throttle body was pretty cruddy: however it didn't fix the problem. It needed to be cleaned anyway. It had E3 plugs in it. I haven't heard or read anything good about E3 plugs. I replaced them with AC Delco, problem solved.

No news on the hood. I'm patient. I'll give them another day or two.

I did get some parts in. The main pieces are front bumper, sun visors (1 back ordered), wiper arms and blades (open at Christmas), bumper bolts, windshield wiper motor seal.

While going thru some files i found another folder of receipts for the truck. I thought the other folder was kind of thin.

Philip, I got it from Classic Industries. They had a 20% off sale. Laying on the stand it looks nice.
