Tranny ?

Will a 700R4 out of a 92 Z71 fit in my 86? Would there be any major modifications? Is there a difference between one out of a 4WD and one out of a 2WD?

A 4x4 tranny won't work unless you do some major mods to the output shaft, which involves tearing it apart basically.

Yeah, like Mike says, the big difference is the output shaft. The problem is the out put shaft is the "first" thing that goes in the case, so it's the "last" thing that comes out...

But if you're going to have it rebuilt anyways you can have them change it to a 2wd then.

I want a bolt and go, so for now I'll keep looking. Besides I'm about to get a new daily driver so I guess it's not that important to have overdrive.
