gen lll swap fuel cell?
I purchased an aluminum fuel cell for my 67-72 truck that I am installing an ls based motor. I want to run an external fuel pump and filter. My fuel cell does not have a return bung welded into it. Can i run the return through the roll over vent or do I need to weld a return bung into my tank. I have a truck style motor with a return line coming off of the rail. thanks daniel

Re: gen lll swap fuel cell?
Take the tank to a local shop to weld one in. Don't use the vent.

Re: gen lll swap fuel cell?
The vent on my cell was a -8 AN bung, so I used the vent for the return and switched to a vented cap.

Re: gen lll swap fuel cell?
These are two fittings on the tank I have. Top is the feed and the brass is the rollover vent. I am thinking of changing all the fittings to AN -6. I can buy all the bungs and have them tig welded on top of the NPT threads. I am thinking of turning the feed line into the return line and tig welding a -6 AN fitting to the bottom right corner for the feed line. Do yall see a problem with this?

Re: gen lll swap fuel cell?
I would use at least a -10 AN for the supply to the pump, and -8AN for the returns (fuel volume over time consideration)...this will also help keep the fuel cooler.

Re: gen lll swap fuel cell?
That seems big to me, this is my first ls motor. I was going to run 3/8 aluminum line for the feed and return and all -6 fittings since it is the same size. Is this to small for a stock ls 5.3 motor?

Re: gen lll swap fuel cell?
I'm running 3/8 both ways without issue.
