The little guy closely resembles the one on my '62 3/4 ton. Rochester B on a 235 6cyl. I say closely because the step in my lid does not appear as pronounced as yours. ?

Re: need help identifying these oil baths

Just out of shear curiosity what were those for. I have 66 with 250 l6 and a single barrel rochester. Right now i just have one of those small round open sided filters on mine. should i be running something more like this oil bath or a larger breather type?

I believe the oil bath air cleaners we're the optional heavy duty cleaners for consistently dirty/dusty driving like on dirt roads.

Re: need help identifying these oil baths

I wonder if the bigger one breathes better. I am keeping one and selling the other, i just don't know which one yet. I'd like to keep it as stock as possible, are the bigger ones worth much?

Re: need help identifying these oil baths

I would say whichever fits and looks the most pleasing to you, go for it. I doubt that one flows better than the other. Oil bath filters theory is: as the air is drawn down into the opening, once it hits bottom (where the oil is) it is forced to make a 180 degree turn up and because dirt particles are heavier than air, they are trapped in the oil while the air makes the turn, goes through the filter media, and makes it into the carburetor. I'm pretty sure all filter media in the center piece is of the same type so I can't see how one would flow better than another. Just my .02.

The larger one is from a car. It has silensing chambers. They flow the same like Corts says. I would use the smaller one. It looks more at home on a truck & hasnt got the extra weight hanging on the carb. It is worth more as the car ones are hard to sell.

Re: need help identifying these oil baths

well I guess the next question is, "does anyone here have a carb for sale that came on a 60 chevy truck"? or can I change the top of my carb?

the larger one is for a 292/283. I have one on my 283 and my 292 that identical to yours. My 283 uses the original 2 barrel rochester.

the large one came in trucks with the 283 also.i remember servicing them over 30 years ago and my 62 still retains one although it will be coming off soon for a 4bbl swap.

Re: need help identifying these oil baths

The oil bath air cleaner should work on your carb. It looks real close to the Rochester model B, just has a different fuel inlet, by the picture, but there were several variants to the carb. My model B feeds from the left (see pic) whereas yours and oem4me's model b's feed from the front. You might have to change the air cleaner rod to one that is the proper height for the oil bath cleaner, but with a 2 5/8" neck it should work.
