upper control arm rubbing against cpp drop spindles

Hi, I installed the disc set up from an 81 chevy truck. I bought the 2" drop spindles from CPP. I was installing them this morning when I notice that the front lip of the upper arm is rubbing against the spindle, do I need to grind part of the upper arm for it to move freely, or are the upper ball joints installed incorrectly and they need to go under the control arm. Thanks for your help.

You need to check the clearance at ride height, not fully dropped.

x2. They can possibly rub w/o full weight on the suspension. Put a jack under the a-arm & lift the truck some to see if your problem area goes away.

Once the shock is installed, the suspension won't 'droop' so far. you'll be fine. go ahead and put it together

I can see in your pictures that you're not running the upper control arm snubber. Not having that on will make the suspension droop much farther when you're jacked in the air like you have it.

^^^ this is true!
I found this out only after I clearanced my upper arms & my spindles. After the shock was installed, the suspension drop was limited by the shock travel anyways.

But either way It was only a waste of my own time

Thanks for all your help, I was able to installed them last night, noe they rotate without binding.

Now I have another question, this is related to the sway bar, which way does it go, does go the way I have on the picture or do I have to rotate it, my suburban did not have one, so I am using one form another suburban but the sway bar was already off, so I am trying to figure it out.

after looking at some pics of my truck when I was doing the front end work. It looks like you have it correct. The ends will bend upwards.

2 things- once you have weight on the front end, tires sitting on the ground, you will be able to install the rubber bumper that is a travel stop on the top A arm...that will keep it from being able to go so far as to hit on the spindle.

I don't think you wont be able to fully install the sway bar until you have weight on the front end and the truck sitting on the tires. You can go ahead and mount it on the frame with the brackets, but the ends that mount in the lower A arm will fight you if the A arm is hanging down low.
