stock 5.3 harness trim down
I am about to start my swap but haven't decided on a harness direction yet. I want to see some stock harnesses that have been cut down and how clean they look. I don't rueally want to splerge on a stand alone harness bucause I plan on mounting coil packs on the. Back of the heads and I am using a f body intake on a 5.3. Thinking about getting a stock truck harness and cutting it up. Ideas and or advice.

Re: stock 5.3 harness trim down
If I went with a f or y body harness would I need a matching pcm? And would there be some same sensor but different plug deals?

Re: stock 5.3 harness trim down
what injectors you planning on using? prob EV1 or 6 so using the truck harness will require cutting/soldering new ends for the injectors. if you use an F/Y harness you do not have to do this, you can get the injectors for the ends you have or get adaptors.
The truck harness doesnt have Fan outputs but those can be added easily so the fans are controlled by the PCM. Also note what PCM you get and what trans you will be running and if you have red or green end on the harness that goes to the PCM, these can be changed but you have to know the pin out of the PCM before just doing this. only thing I would really do is try to get a PCM and harness together.

All C5 Y-body harnesses are DBW. All 4th Gen F-body harnesses are DBC. 97 & 98 LS1 harnesses are pinned completely different & not worth the hassle. |

They have different shift patterns for 4-lo, Nothing that cant be tuned out, You can have a 2wd output shaft/tailhousing installed in/on a 4wd trans.

Re: stock 5.3 harness trim down
Thanks for the info....ill probably do a checkup on the tranny when i get it swapped to 2wd. glad i canu use the same ecm though. the tranny is out of an 02, you think i should find someone to trade for a 2wd or just find the parts to swap the tailshaft?
