benwah's 1962 k-20 save
Ok I never did an official intro. My first truck was a 64 c-20 bbw. Didnt have it long, I was 16 and my dad wanted it to go. I wanted to fix it up that was the 80s. A friend of mine baught a 66 k-10 early 90's. It had a 327 that thing was an animal! I tried to buy it off him several times but he wound up toatling it out. That was the first 4x4 60-66 chevy I knew of . When I was a kid my dad had a 63 c-10 , upgrated to a 65 c-20 then a 67 c-20. Somehow I woundup playing with old Mopars and IH trucks. It was after a 5.7 deisel that gernaded on me, that left a bad taste on me with GM. I was under the hood more than driving the dam thing. It crapped out in front of this guys house that had a 72 Dodge pickup with grass 3' all around it. We traded trucks , Kinda felt bad for him. The 72 Dodge ran... But I remember being in my dad's 63 with the wraparound windshield,. Awesome truck. So now I'm looking for any 60-63 4X4..... I find one in 2005 3/4 ton 4X4 1962 cab chassie model. $250. This old girl had a hard life . 1st owner unknown. 2nd was Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford CT as a grounds truck.. In '92 it was sold to a construction outfit as a site truck. I would have normanly either parted out the truck or scrapped it. But it has a marion pto off the transmission and a twin piston dump frame.

Re: benwah's 1962 k-20 save
Welcome Ben! I dig the '62. I had a '62 non original K10 up until 2 months ago and a '64 K10 that I parted (rust was just too bad). Now I just have the '63 K15. I too have been around the block with alot of "other" trucks but always seem to come back to the Chevys. Cool save. What are your plans for the bed? Are you keeping the dump? It's kind of a cool feature.

Re: benwah's 1962 k-20 save
I plan on keeping the flatbed, the frame for it is solid. It will be used. Im kicking idias on modifing a stock fleetside bed to fit the dump frame. Originally my plan was to swap the 235 for a 305, But after fresh gas, points, plugs, wires and adjusting the lifters it purrrs nicely. I had to get a doner cab and drivers door. I also baught some repoped fenders. I love going on vacation to Arizona! Most people get nicknacks or paddywacks, I get sheetmetal! My plan is black body and gold top of cab and interior. I have wanted to try my hand at applying flake and adding gold flake over the black. And black flake over the gold. She wont be a trailer queen or a show stopper. But if I need a trip to Lowes or a load of mulchshe can preform the job well. I allready have a gouple of show trucks.

Re: benwah's 1962 k-20 save
This might be my favorite truck I've seen on here! I don't think I've ever seen a truck with more character than that one. If it were me, I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe drive it through the nice part of town every once in awhile just to look at people's faces!
Awesome truck |

Re: benwah's 1962 k-20 save
A few more after the repairs, power washing, and makeing a rear bumper out of scrap metal laying around. Also recycling the old motorhomes mud flapps. I plan on keeping the truck a flat bed. Plan on making my own toung and grove floor out of pressure treated 2x8's.

Re: benwah's 1962 k-20 save
I found a tire shop that will actually mount tires on the split rims. I love the 4x4 skinny tire look! Cant find any leads to 17" aggresive tires only road tires.

inline-tube will make your rear e-brake cables. i just bought some for my 1/2 ton, don't know if they have yours already made up. if not you can send them your old one to copy.
