Not bad considering it was missing a few small things. Nicely done truck in a pretty color.

Re: Jimmy on Barrett Jackson

haha, I have that one saved on my computer. I've been in love with it for a while. It must've been a late addition to the roster. It wasn't on my list. I thought I knew all of the 67-72's that were selling this week!

OH! I think it's at the Russo and Steele Auction right? So, we wont see it on Barrett Jackson. That sux!

Re: Jimmy on Barrett Jackson

The last sale of the night was a 2wd Blazer. Black on black. It didn't present well under the lights. It only went for $15,500. Pretty low for Barrett Jackson. I would've done things a little different on it. I think the wheel/tire combination and the painted grille and bumper hurt it.

Well bought though for the guy who won it. He couldn't have done the frame off restoration for that.

I believe he is wrong on the first year the Blazer was built. It was 1969.

Yeah, announcers on BJ aren't known for their vehicular knowledge. The British one once pointed out the ABS module on a modern car and speculated that it must be the fuel injection system. The regular commentators were equally as clueless and went along with his conclusion.

Not really true with Steve Magnante. Although he is primarily a muscle car guy which explains his miscue with the blazer here. Steve is extemely knowledgable with all brands of muscle cars and is also a very nice guy, fun to talk to, especially if you share his passion for muscle cars

I guess the guys wing it instead of getting info before or during the auction. On Mecum 's auction Friday, a 1970 Blazer sold for $36,000. It looked really good.

Re: Jimmy on Barrett Jackson

He said the truck line debuted in 66. 67 was the first year of the body style. Give him a break. If he wanted to show off he would decode the vin number off the top of his head. Steve would embarass you at muscle car jeopardy. As for Allen, the british guy, his specialty is vintage european luxury and racing cars. He has had the privelage of beating the piss out of the most exotic, expensive, vintage, european cars ever made. Thats what BJ used to specialize in. These types of cars rarely ever go up for auction at no reserve. I do get a kick out of it when he calls the hood of a car a bonnet

I was painting with a rather large brush, but my comment wasn't so much directed at Steve. I definitely don't begrudge anyone being a year off on something like that, and if you want to argue semantics, he's right about the year since 1967 is the model year of the trucks. That's interesting about Allen. I didn't know that.

Here it is on Ebay already. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-...item3372cc7cbf

Not sure why anyone would buy at Barrett Jackson with the intent of resale.

Re: Jimmy on Barrett Jackson

Because obviously this guy thinks it to be worth much more than the selling price he paid at BJ. Did you see the starting bid?

I saw this truck in person at BJ, and thought it was well bought for that selling price, nice paint, overall a clean truck that someone could jump right in and enjoy, but it's not a $38k truck.......

Re: Jimmy on Barrett Jackson

I remember the listing for the truck at BJ saying it was all converted over to 3/4 ton suspension. It did have 8 lug wheels.

I can't really see much in that picture (too dark) but I think I remember it having the old GM H-052 rearend with the drop out center section which is a full floating rear with a 10.125 ring gear,,,used up through the 1972 model year when it was replaced with the full floater 14 bolt 10.5" ring gear.

Re: Jimmy on Barrett Jackson

Now that I look at the ad more, it appears to have went to Alabama.

It will be interesting to see how it sells out there. Since that's on the other side of the Mississippi where things get rusty, these old trucks are few and far between on that side of the country.

Too plentifull over here to fetch that kind of dough.

I'm far from an expert on axles, but that looks like a GM 10 bolt.

I do like the lighter blues with blue interior though, had a nova with this color combo years ago.
