4x4 swap to a 2wd

I need help workn on blazer with my daughter we decided to do a 2wd swap from a 4x4 71 blazer how hard is it will it require fabrications? what's the easiest way to do this at home without buying a kit...We wanna make it stock NO air bags,4links just stock.Is it possible to keep our brakes/ 6 lug set up front and back? Thanks for the help in advance...

I would saaaayy....buy a '73 up 1/2 ton 2wd parts truck, swap the front crossmember into yours and use the 2wd rear springs. If needed you can get 6-lug rotors for the front pretty cheap.

Thanx Tony I was reading a post/thread you CAN'T use 4x4 steering column? So doin the different years won't require any fab work we have NO welder or plasma cutter we are doing this for the first time don't wanna start what we can't finish at home...Thanks for the help..

Everything you need to do should be feasible without the need for a welder or plasma cutter. It's all bolt on- however getting the factory rivets out will require a grinder and/or drill.
Remember you will be ditching the entire front differential and leaf springs- so if you want to keep it 6 lug, you'll need to get the front suspension x-member off of a 67-70 2wd truck. You can leave the rear in place, but may want to get some lowered springs, drop shackles and/or flip kit to get the ride height correct. Or you can ditch the leaf springs and grab the trailing arms, differential and rear cross members and convert the rear to coil springs.
I've never heard of not being able to use the 4wd column in a 2wd conversion, but then again I don't know everything....i'm sure somebody w/ more experience in this will chime in shortly.

This is the route I went with on my 72. different methods depending on budget and time. I removed all 4x4 springs shackles a whole mess of rivets, added front cross members out of an 83 c10, trailing arms with coil springs, different trans, and drive shaft, 2wd steering box, new Swept back ram horns ( not the original strait dump ram horns) and exhaust... time and parts is what it takes. I also don't have a welder.... Help and Photos available Just Ask...... Good luck... Ed
