I finally got my 1987 Gmc to my house so I can start what will probably be another long project. It has a 350 with a 700r4 and G80 rear differential. Seems to be fully loaded as far as power windows, locks, cruise, tilt,clock, and dual tanks. My plan for now is to at least get it running. It has been sitting since 2002 or 03 and the previous owner said the trans was bad so they parked it. I'll start with some fluid changes and a battery and see what happens. Any advice from anyone who has messed with these trucks after sitting would be a great help. Thanks and wish me luck. Probably wouldnt be as bad if I didnt already have several other projects in the works lol.

Not sure where Keller Tx is but Cibolo is by San Antonio. They say most of Tx looks the same.

Thanks. Not for sure on the trailer I borrowed it from my dad but I think it is 18 feet long.

Looks like a good start. I'm rebuilding an 87' also. By the way, I bought at an 89' Suburban for parts and the transmission was working perfectly if you need a cheap trans to get your truck moving. However, I'm about 200 miles from you.

Keller is just north of Fort Worth. About one foot. Here is a pic of my 87.

Things to replace (truck sat for 10 years)
1) Replace fuel filter and have injectors cleaned and flowed. Empty gas tanks - old gasoline is nasty! Expect to replace fuel pumps and fuel socks.
2) Replace gasket between TB and intake manifold - those will crack over time creating a vacuum leak.
3) Purge old antifreeze - have radiator serviced by a rad shop.
4) Oil -filter change.
5) Bleed brakes - inspect wheel cylinders and calipers for leaks. Master cylinder may have rusty residue. Expect to replace rubber brake lines.
6) Replace all belts and hoses.

just for starters. Nice project! HTH
