Re: 76 Blazer build
Thanks guys especially patriot for thinking about me. The 70 cab is in primer and back in the hands of its owner, I've got bumpers on the 77 shortbox and drive it around a little but it is soon going to my brother in law to make room for a 71 nova SS that my father in law was working on before he passed. Dont worry about the blazer, I plan on completing it this year, but since it will be the first thing that I try to paint myself, it may not be perfect.

Re: 76 Blazer build
No pics of the 71 yet, but here is a pick of his 70 ss that he restored about 15 years ago. Numbers match 350/4speed and original color.
The 71 is on a roistere, the suspension and sub are done, we have a full new interior for it and all the parts but the body needs to be done yet. It was cortez silver but my wife wants it to be orange. I will definitely take you up on the offer for advice, the blazer is currently in epoxy primer with some high build. I plan on repainting it the original green and either using a single stage or acrylic enamel? not sure but looking for something thats not to complicated. Sorry to hear about the injury, but thank you for your service!

Re: 76 Blazer build
I actually have a perfect set and a rough set, but neither are for sale, lol. I actually have a 71 parts car and may be buying a 72 for parts in the near future, what are you looking for?

I need a good body for a Drag car. Want to do a trade??? I don't have the original seats for my 70 Nova. I need to find a set even if they are torn up. I really would like to find a 68-72 Nova body to build a drag car for myself. Thanks Russ. |

Re: 76 Blazer build
The 71 parts body is rough, I think I can get the 72 for $500 but i really havent had a chance to look it over yet. My parents bought a summer home in North Dakota 2 years ago, so I'll tell them to keep an eye out for one.

Thats a rough rear on that car. I actually got a 1980 Camaro Z28 today. It is a second owner car, I am the third. I bought it from a guy who's cousin bought it new in Nebraska. Complete car. My wife now tells me its hers. |

Re: 76 Blazer build
Nice, the guy told me that he drove across some train tracks and a huge chunk of bondo fell out of the rear quarter.

Re: 76 Blazer build
I finally started working on the blazer again, pulled the motor, started cleaning up the front frame rails, and prepping for the dana 60 swap. Check out my original 85K clutch! The funny thing is that I dont think that it was slipping.

Re: 76 Blazer build
So what kind of tires are on it? I know they are old, but I don't remember seeing that goofy tread pattern before.

They are sears tires and were installed back in 85'. They are 32-11.5s and I'll look to see if there is another name on it.

Re: 76 Blazer build
A little progess. I installed the new Disc/disc prop valve, finished painting the frame, installed the front lift springs, and the dana 60. I put the front end sheet metal back on to test fit it again before paint and installed the door glass and vent windows.
and heres a few pics for patriot

Re: 76 Blazer build
Come on now Russ. you can't tease me like that. So which on is mine. Still looking for another Nova shell. I actually bought 2 more Z28's. Another 1980 4 speed car and a 1978. Both Black on Black. Nice progress on the Blazer. I brought my 1986 Blazer home to start on it and the Nazi's next door are complaining I have too many cars. I HAVE 3 DOUBLE WIDE STORAGE LOCKERS FULL.Wait until I bring ALL of my cars home. I can't wait to see your Blazer finished.

Re: 76 Blazer build
Starting to make some progress again and have the rear axle ready to go in with an ORD u-bolt flip kit. Things have been a little slow since my son was born 10 months ago, but I have been collecting parts.

Re: 76 Blazer build
Hello Russ. CONGRATS on the little boy .
I love the progress. I sold all but one of my K5 Blazers. I kept the 86 4speed one. I am still working on it as I write this. I miss seeing your progress report brother. Still looking for a Nova body. Are you going to sell me one of yours??? Anyway just wanted to say CONGRATS on your son. Mine is 14 and he is my best friend. (along with the wife unit of course) Take care Russ, looking forward to your updates. Patriot |
