Factory Options and Colors

Does anyone know if there is a compiled list of factory options with codes ( like listed on the inside of the glovebox )? In addition, is there a list of factory color names with a sample color and code? I could be wrong, but I think the brochures show the factory color for the 1972 models, but not prior years. Also, I believe the Blazer was available in more factory colors than the pickups. Thanks!

Re: Factory Options and Colors

this what you're talking about? the brochure has the colors and options, but not the code numbers. A lot of the options came in with other options.. Like, you order cst or custum pkg. and get carpet, side panels, chrome sticks, A/C came with tinted windows, bigger cooling, and alt. etc. I've never seen a bare bones blazer or jimmy.. Now that would be rare..

Oh okay, thanks. Never heard it called that before. Since that's the only orange listed for 72 on that sheet, I'd assume that's what is on my blazer then...

It was standard on 4 wheel drive, and an option on 2 wheel drive.

If you right click on the attached image you can save it to "my Documents" then open it up and it will allow you to enlarge it. It may get grainy if you go to big though. I just did it and it allowed me to get it big enough to read

Re: Factory Options and Colors

Jimmy,

That is exactly what I am talking about. Could you possibly post those colors under the thread - Factory Blazer Colors along with a list of the factory names for each color? I know some of the colors, red orange, tangier orange, ochre ( mustard ), hawaiian blue, mariner blue, light olive, dark olive, etc. Critter posted the PPG GM colors, but PPG, does not list the technical factory names...unfortunately they listed their own names for the colors. It would also be helpful if anyone has the colors for the other model years, especially 1969 and 1970 as I think 1971 models are the same or maybe a few colors less than the 1972 models. In addition, I think there were a few more colors offered on the Blazers compared to the pickups. Anyone out there have any color codes from the factory build decal inside the glovebox? If so, post on the Factory Blazer Colors thread. I intended for the question on this thread to be more on the options and the related codes.....my bad for not being more clear.

Are you sure? My 72 4x4 blazer never had a front sway bar, I added it myself.

Actually, I've always been told that the 4x4 blazers never got front bars at all from 69-72. It wasn't until the 73 model year with the body change that GM finally started offering front sway bars.
Anyone have any other documentation on that? I just found it strange that the factory 72 brocure even mentioned it, as if maybe it was GM's intention?? It wasn't very clear on 4x4 or 4x2 however.

If you're talkinjg sway bars. You're right, 72's didn't have them. I thought you were talking about the stabalizer shock absorber.

Oh wait, I re-read that again,,,it says front stabalizer bars (for 2-wheel drive only). Duh, I guess I need to pay more attention

The floatation tires cracks me up, I'd like to see a 4,600 lbs. truck float

Yea, their tire options were a joke. I ordered mine with the "On & Off road tires." When it came in all they were was regular Good-Year 7:75 X 15 snow tires. On narrow rims. Not the best tires for Arizona sand.
