for those of yall that eather dont have the money or dont like the idea of electric fans. go to a wrecking yard or dealer and get the plastic 11 blade fan from a 98 truck. they blow some air, and they bolt right onto the fan clutch. OH YEA , I FORGOT TO MENTION, you have had to have switched to the reverse rotation water pump,(ie... serpentine system) i think i like this fan better than i did the electric fans i had. blows alot more air through there i do know that.

of coarse you may be able to turn the fan around, its thin enough and the mounting center is in the center. just where it says front, put it towards the back (towards the motor)

98 and above i believe, they are real light to.

Mike, it wasnt that they wernt cutting it. as i tried before, i thought maybe my timing problem was associated with it getting hot. i figured well maybe it is getting hot and the gauges were malfunctioning, so puled them off. guess what, the wernt malfunctioning so i went back to the drawing board. i really was going to put them back on later but when i found the idea about the plastic fan i tried it. well actually, i was at the wrecking yard to get another fan and clutch because, i dont know if there is a difference between a BBC fan/clutch and a SBC fan//clutch but the one i had was twice as heavy as the other fan/clutch that i got this time. well i changed it was pretty happy with it, UNTILL one of the guys over ther races cars said try to find one of those plastic fans from a 98, that was the only fan he could find that would cool the 450 hp SBC he had in his race car. well i scouted around and found one. i put it on and VIOLA. i like this fan.

also, i read on another post where someone was saying that these motors were designed to run at at least 180* temp for emmissions purposes and propper fuel atomization. now im not real sure about all that but, with the emmission here in my county i had to try anything and you know the HELL i have been having with the rich idle. well, there must have been something to that, cause it is running a little higher on the temp gauge, right at the 180* mark and the idle dont smell as rich. next adventure is to change the thermostat to a 180* instead of a 160*. hey, im game to try almost anything.

Here's another source for E-fans. The A/C supply house seels the exact same fans that Summit, and Jegs sells. They aren't in "kit" form, so you will have to do some fab work, but the money saved is well worth it...

i must say people. I LOVE THAT PLASTIC FAN. i feels like having the electric fans but without the electrical pull on the alternator. and quiet to.
