I need pics of trans coolers
I need pictures of where and how you guys have mounted your trans coolers, and how you plumbed them. I just bought a bad ass new tranny and B&M cooler rated at 22000 GVW and I need some tips before I do the install. Thanks guys.

I mounted mine to the rad with some cheezy plastic tie wrap's .. I do plan on putting some type of metal bracket to properly mount the cooler..

Mine's a B+M 28,000gvw.Bent up some brake line and mounted it to two metal strips I screwed into the rad support.

A question.
Does the trans cooling portion of the radiator not do a good enough job cooling for everyday use with occasional light towing? I have an extra trans cooler in front of my radiator I would like to get rid of to "clean things up" up front. darren

you'll find most tranny rebuilders require a seperate tranny cooler or else no warrenty the tranny part of the rad actually does more heating up of the tranny fluid than cooling

trans temp
if you run the trans fluid through the rat. then whatever your thermostat is set at.... ur trans fluid will get heated up to that temp. on the other hand if you run a seperate trans cooler the temp. changes a lot... stop and go traffic air flows and then stops flowing. this is actually bad for the transmission also.... you mainly want a steady temp that is around 175F

I've posted info on this before and will do it again because the search function is currently disabled.
I highly recommend a cooler whether you tow or not. Up here where I live you plumb the extra cooler BEFORE the tank in the radiator. In the winter you have to heat the fluid to keep your transmission happy. In the south you should plumb your external cooler so the fluid goes from the radiator tank then to the external cooler then back to the transmission. I did a test. I installed a temp gauge with my new TH350 and left the cooler I bought off. Then I towed my boat 100 miles to practice for a fishing tournament. The gauge had a peak reading of 210 degrees! A week later I did the same trip with similar ambient temperatures and the gauge never read over 185. And that 185 was in stop and go traffic. darren: To answer your question I'd leave the cooler on. A lot of the heat build up comes when your torque converter is slipping while you are waiting at stop lights.

Now TTT I didnt mean to hijack the thread. Sorry. So anyone else have pix of good trans cooler setups. I guess since I need to have one, it may as well look good. Darren
