Truck i found

I need some help with the year on this one. I figured it was early 50s but if there is any giveaways as to the exact year id appreciate the incite. Also what would you pay for this truck from just looking at the picture?

Re: Truck i found

Since it has vent windows and what appears to be push button door handles, maybe a 52-53? If the door handles are pull down, maybe a bit earlier.

Some of the more knowledgeable users might be able to pin point it better. You can also take the serial number off the plate inside the drivers side door and decode it. There are a few resources online that will help.

Re: Truck i found

Yep, vent windows and push button door handles would peg it as a 52 or 53. if it has the turn down door handles it would be a 51.

it looks pretty straight and solid in the photo. Can it be bought? Or traded for? In that I mean find out what the guy needs or wants if he is iffy on selling it. Years ago I traded a set of new tires for a truck because the owner of the truck needed a set of tires for his daily and didn't have the money. A guy probably would have to pony up a better trade now but sometimes a trade trumps cash.

Re: Truck i found

Shes rusty. Its at a house that's being sold, and my girlfriends dad is working on getting it from the new owners. Seems like hes probably going to get it and as long as he doesn't decide to keep it for himself ill be all set. It is a five window which i like. What would you say about prices if i have to shell out some cash? The beds on the ground and pretty rusty. Floors are gone. Its been outside a long time.

Re: Truck i found

Hey 11Chuck, it has fog lights. The price would jump up to $351.84.

All B/S aside, check for rust, not surface rust but rusted through areas. Also, if it comes with a title. If no serious rust and with a title and all body parts & glass are on it. I'd price it at $600.00-$1200.00.

Re: Truck i found

Is there a way to get a side shot? The emblem on the side of the hood looks like it would be a 53 but I can't see it very well.

Re: Truck i found

Alright thanks. Just trying to look at a realistic number to wave in front of them if they aren't too motivated to sell. I can probably get side shots the next time i go back.....But man those fog lights are pricey! ill have to get those even if i cant get the truck! haha

Re: Truck i found

Im betting if it was taken it was legit. Around here scrap cars are bring upwards of $400.00 if they wanted it out Someone offered a few hundred to haul it away. Maybe you can still track it down it looks well worth it. I paid $600.00 for the rust I drug home

You are right on. I was at the scrap yard last weekend and saw a 54 or 55 1st panel van sitting there. No hits or anything. It was pouring rain so I didn't go check for the extent of the rust but it was sad to see it there. It was complete with seats and a nice paintable grill. I may go back next month and inquire about it. I have no need for another project but saving it would be worth it. Thats the same yard that a few years ago I saw the remains of an AD cab that was already cut up.

Re: Truck i found

Well...i think the truck ended up in Illinois or Tennessee. Not really sure where. Someone here may end up with it who knows......on the bright side i got this AC off the same farm. Not sure if anyone here likes tractors but i'm pretty excited!
