red power wires coming out of firewall harness

Do i run the two red wires coming from the firewall harness block directly to the alt terminal in the little red LS battery connector box(positive terminal)? Or does one go to that spot and the other directly to constant battery source? These are the two wires that were connected to the junction block on the firewall.

I deleted that block completely, and just ran the wire that used to go to that block from the starter, directly to the alternator......and my pcm harness has a small red wire that goes to the alternator.....thats it... and my voltmeter guage still works?....
