1971 K/30 Dually Build

I've been collecting and scrounging parts for years to do a 1 ton dually build and think I have enough together to get started. Was going to buy another truck to do this with but have decided to use my 71 K/10...never have beeen much into half tons anyway. Picked up a 14 bolt about a month ago so going to get started on cleaning it up and going thru and repalcing all brake hardware and wheel cylinders this weekend.

Bob, can't wait to see this build. are you going to keep the trim? if so I'm curious as to how your gonna make it fit the "dually" fenders. I'm subscribed.

Tim, yes I'm keeping the trim...I'm hoping not to have to do any kind of a fender on it. I'm using a Cab & Chassis rear and that should tuck my tires in a total of 4" over the single wheel rear I used on my other dually. May have to use a small flare on tn the back but have that covered as well.

Thanks Mr-JACK, It looks like it might be awhile before much progress, 108 in the shop when I got off work...makes it hard to get anything done!

Plans are for 4" Skyjacker front springs with a Dana 60 and high crossover steering, AGR steering box and a Borgeson vibration dampining shaft. Rear will be a Cab & Chassis 14 bolt and hopefully dual piston disc brakes with new Eaton springs and a P-30 chassis motor home 1.75" sway bar. 19.5 American Alloy wheels and Cooper 8R C/140 drive traction tires [about 34" tall] Motor and trans will stay the same till I figure out what I want to do there.

Well Rob, I'm saying yes that way I can stay positive cause I want it there in running condition! I'd like to have the paint finished by then too, but I'm not going to hold my breath! How's it coming any how? By the way, I missed last year too.

No not much done yet, between the heat and working 10/12 hour days it doesnt leave much time to get anything done. It looks like a bit of a cool down this weekend so hope to get to work.

No way I'll be done but I do plan to be there, and its not far off either! Sure seems like this summer is flying by! Hope to see yours up and running...paint or not.

Ryan, No pics...ran into a bit of a snag. It seems the 19.5s have more offset than the 16s do and the inside dual hits the leaf spring. I've been looking at other years of spring mounts hoping I could find one that tucks in a little closer to the frame but no such luck yet.
