1/2 vs 3/4 ton hub caps
Am familiar with the different size caps for the two mentioned above, but scratching my head on this one... Pic is of a C20 in San Dog for sale. Those SURE look like 1/2 ton caps to me - (i.e. concave bowtie center vs. convex protruding center, etc). The truck is a C20 and is optioned with 16" wheels on the SPID. If the originals were split rim 16's - then these must be replacements or something - but what 8 lug wheel out there will fit 1/2 ton's smaller hubcaps? Even the ford wheel option fits the 3/4 ton caps, I believe. Or is this an optical illusion and they really are 3/4 ton caps? (I realize they are the wrong year for the truck, should be blue bow tie, but the question remains!)
Thanks, look fwd to hearing your thoughts. Could just be my eyes playing tricks on me. |

Re: 1/2 vs 3/4 ton hub caps
I believe in 73 and later the 3/4 tons were concave like the 1/2 tons. Convex ended in 72.

Re: 1/2 vs 3/4 ton hub caps
its a headache finding 67 68 hubcaps because of the 3/4 ton cap's too , on ebay they ALWAYS list them wrong if it says 1/2 ton they are 3/4 or if it says 3/4 they are 1/2 ton , even on this site I see them listed wrong all the time , I have often wonder if you could modify 3/4 ton cap's to fit ??

Re: 1/2 vs 3/4 ton hub caps
Yep, it is a 3/4. Today confirmed the above that you all mentioned (i.e. concave after 72 for 3/4's) with another truck. Thanks for the help.
As for the truck itself. It is still for sale, and as mentioned, it's been for sale for a long time - but I think under some different owners/consigners. I am reasonably sure it's part of a collection. I've seen it listed for $10k, $12.5k, and now it's $11.5k - on a lot in San Dog. I DO like light yellow, but there are other colors I'd rather have and this is a nice original great condition truck in my opinion. I've spoken to the guy selling it (the dealer) and I've spoken to the lady who manages the owners accounts, or something like that. Anyway, dealer said he'd take a reasonable cash offer, so I'd bet $10k is in the ball park. It's from CO, and here's a link. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if a diff color, again, just not my cup of tea - but a C20 custom camper is just what I'm lookin for. Where it is now: http://www.globalrvsolutions.com/lis...ey-cheyenne-20 Where it was before (more pictures): http://www.motorcarportfolio.com/product.php?id=4155 The manager's poc/previous for sale site: http://www.classictruckcentral.com/trucks/1387 |

Re: 1/2 vs 3/4 ton hub caps
Ahhhh!! That's funny - I didn't even notice that - it's hard to see, but the holes for the below eyeline mirrors were "plugged" and not welded - so there are big plugs (at least painted) where the old mirrors were. When it was for sale at the other places, it had NO mirrors, which was better than the goofy one they added at the dealer. I'm sure they had to add something to legally sell it - safety insp, etc... BUT C'MON!!! That right there tells me the owner doesn't know what he has or care much if he let that happen. If I was selling a truck under consignment and they did that to it (without my knowledge), I'd freak... But if the owner DOES know, well, I'd offer about $2K less JUST because of that mirror addition. Now there are holes in a place that shouldn't be and they can't be redone with out repainting the door. Nice.
