Bought a truck!
Hello everyone,
After looking for what seems like forever for just the right truck, I settled on one and brought it home today. It needs some work, but I'm looking forward to learning about it and getting it running and driving well. One of the biggest things I was looking to avoid was rust, and this truck has almost none! One little spot at the base of the windshield, and some typical surface stuff, but the underneath is amazingly spotless and in great shape! It appears to be all original paint. The PO took a buffer to it and brought back some shine, but wasn't the best with his technique, I'm going to try to work on it a little. It had a camper in it, so it has some wiring to a plug and had big mirrors on the sides. For the most part, it seems very very original. Plans are really to just get it running and driving well, chrome bumpers and grill, nice wheels and tires, and drive it. That's all. Feel free to add anything about the truck to this post, I want to know everything I can! (That means expect to hear lots of questions too.) Re: Bought a truck!
OOH! What a honey! The interior looks great as well as the rest of the truck. I just started a 67 specific thread. I'd love for you to rear it and take some detailed shot of your truck. Since you plan to keep it I will mention that recently some of the guys have mentioned what they paid for their truck. If you don't care to share that info it no big deal. We all understand. Here is a link to the thread... Oh yeah WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!

Re: Bought a truck!
Looks great, one thought on switching the bumpers and grill to chrome.......DON'T! Maybe find a white rear to match the front but I think the nose on that truck looks perfect just how it is.

Man that baby is clean! Nice score. I love this color! You know if that was an original GM camper harness they are worth a few bucks on the classifieds here.

Re: Bought a truck!
Really nice original there! But, is that tape on the upper radiator hose? I'd get that fixed before driving it much.
Looks like a lower mileage truck, what's the odometer show?

Re: Bought a truck!
Thanks for the comments guys. I don't mind sharing, I gave $2100 for it.
It needs some brake work, some exhaust work, and the upper radiator hose. I figured I'd do a power disc conversion, as I'm partial to stopping better. The rest of the stuff is general maintenance and what has wore out. I might do one of those electronic ignition conversions that keeps the points style distributor too. But not much will change on the truck except cleanup. As for the camper stuff, I have the big mirrors (you can kind of see them on the floor in one shot), and the harness is installed and the plug is by the drivers window. I wouldn't mind removing it, but would need something to plug the hole. Oh, is it possible to add a factory (or factory style) tach with an I6? That is one thing that I think would be nice to have. Re: Bought a truck!
Nice score!! Tachs are around for the 6 but they're rare.Occassionally they will pop up on the parts board.

NICE! That's the kind of truck you add disc brakes, 5spd, A/C, drop it, and DRIVE!

Re: Bought a truck!
Beautiful truck!!! That truck is a nice orig example right there. My 2 cents. Get the mechanicals in order. Add a brake booster. Fill the screw holes with painted to match truss screws. Find a set of mirror arm and heads and call it good.. This is just my opinion. Again, beautiful truck!!

Re: Bought a truck!
Wow, you did great! I love the color and that it's a 67. Sure wish I could stumble on something like that here, but mine will look very similar when it's done, just taking alot longer!
