What year is this bed?
I was thinking about it as I pressure washed the bed yesterday. The vin shows the truck to be a '49, but I thought there were nine boards that year. Could be wrong on that. The wood will look great after refinishing but we'll need new hardware, in which case I'll need to know what year (or years) I'm looking at... Any help will be much appreciated!

Re: What year is this bed?
The truck probably had a box change sometime in it's life. The other thing might be that in the past someone bought a 7 board wood kit for it.
You could probably tell that by looking at the bottom side of the cross sills and seeing if they have extra holes with marks from the washers where the bolts used to be. It's a non issue unless you are restoring it to 100% show room stock. |

Does it have a gas filler hole on the bedside.

Re: What year is this bed?
From looking in my LMC catalog it is a 51, 2 or 3. They had 7 strips and the 47-51's had 8.
