Serpentine Conversion from OBS or 4.3L V6

I did my searching and just wanted to clarify exactly the parts needed for a conversion to a serpentine system on my 1987 5.7 TBI.

Parts come off either a 90+ OBS Chevy Truck or 4.3L V6

Should be Two Large Aluminum Brackets w/ all the bolts
Crank Pulley
Fan w/ Thermostatic Clutch
Reverse flow water pump
A/C Compressor
Alternator
Powersteering Pump

Am I missing anything?? Also wanted to confirm that all the parts off the V6 are usuable with my 350.... Since I plan on converting to r134 after the swap should I go ahead and grab the accumaltor and condensors off the donor vehicle?

Indeed they are the 4.3 is a 5.7 without 2 of the cylinders. I just did a v-8 turbo conversion on my wifes all wheel drive 2000 bravada and the whole system bolted right on to my small block.

Can't think of anything you are missing except maybe the belt and tensioner. Also, you need a pulley puller to remove the power steering pump. I rented one. This also has a tool for pressing the pulley back on. I didn't realize that and returned the tool, and had to go back and rent it again.

I'm running a V6 system on my ZZ4.

You will need a bracket to change to a 90's upper water hose.
Here is a pic of my bracket.

The bracket has a cradle under the hose. The cradle is made from an exhaust pipe. It' welded to the end of a bracket brace.

Fabbing should be easy. Do I need the thermostat housing too for the upper hose?

Yes, grab it. It points the upper hose in the correct direction. For the alternator to work, all you need is an ignition source to the L connection. Once the alternator starts to charge, power is no longer used by the ingnitions source. I have my ignition source tied to a light. When the alternator is not charging, the light is on. When the light is off, the alternator is charging. It's a great way to know if I throw a belt or the alternator stops working.

A/C hoses will need to be made and cut.

I think I now remember having to find a V8 crank pulley. But I think my system when bought, had a car pulley sent with it.

All great info guys! I will grab a pulley puller for the junk yard.

What did you mean by "all you need is an ignition source to the L connection"? Something like an accesory wire (only on when ignition is on) to the alternator?

Yes, the alternators has a four prong connector. All you need is power to the L connector from an ignition source. Grab the alternator connector or you'll have to buy one to fit the it.

On an unrelated note, I will be buying a new driver vent window on my junkyard run too. Turns out you can open it with the lock still engaged.... Just in pieces.
