67 3/4 ton camper-need help w/tire size & brand
Hi everyone, its been months since I've posted on the forum and decided its time to get actively motivated in putting my dads truck back on the road. This truck belonged to my father who was the original owner and now I'm the second owner:
As you can see she needs a lot of work, but I have plenty of time to get it done. I first need to get new tires.....Any suggestions on tire brand and size? My plan is to go with the stock 16.5 steel wheels. Just need some suggestions on tire size and brand. Thank you, Marty |

16.5" tires kinda hard to find - but here is one that looks pretty good: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....5THT&tab=Sizes
It is the larger of the stock size options for tires on the C20 (in later years, like 71/2 - not 100% positive about 67s). Here's a few pics of them on a 71 to give you an idea: |

Depending on how "stock" you are wanting to go here is the optional tire sizes for '67. 10-16.5 were the only stock size listed for '67. Here is a link for a source of 16.5s among other sizes. http://www.nebraskatire.com/hot_deal..._hot_deals.htm

Thanks you for the replies. I didn't realize that options would be limited with the 16,5 steel wheels. What other options would you recommend?

Re: 67 3/4 ton camper-need help w/tire size & brand
Nice truck. I see it's a Custom Camper. The 8.25-16.5 wheel is what the optional 10.00-16.5 tires came on. That's what width is on the front now. It looks like the wagon wheels are 9.75 wide. A lot of guys ran that combo back then, with 12-16.5s on the back. If you mean stock to the truck, check the SPID on the glovebox door. If you mean the stock-type wheel, like on the front, you can find 9.75-16.5 wheels for sale for reasonable and that would look great. The original type of hubcap required inner clips, like old cars ran years before and both those wheels and hubcaps are tough to find. These trucks look great with the wide stock center wheels w/o hubcaps,as most ran them back then. Or,69-75 hubcaps look great,as do the 76-91s. You'd want 9.50s on the front and 12.50s are what you'll find for the rear, unless you go with bias ply from a classic tire company.
If you decide to go to 16",the GM 16" wheels back then were split rims. The later non-split type are 6". What guys like to find are the last SAE Ford wheels from the early-mid '90s that are 7". They look just a bit deeper and closer to what's on front now. Just be sure you are getting the 8 on 6.5s and not the 170MMs.

I went with late model 16" steel wheels and 235/85-16 radials. They look pretty stock.
