Took advantage of the cool, rainy night to tackle some unsavory work that I've been avoiding on the blazer.
 Got all the old brackets/spring hangers/bump stops/etc cut off the frame, and started mocking up the rear suspension.

I would feel bad rodding such an original truck too.
Oh wait that's what I am doing. Strike that. How fast was that pass on the vid? I have a 4wd I am converting to 2wd too (not like yours by any stretch) So I am also interested in the rear spring mounts. Or Bag? 4wd frame is more narrow in the rear right?

I am getting away from air-ride on this truck. I am going to be running coil-overs on all 4 corners. I'll show the rear coil-over mounts when I get to that point. Going for more of a handling aspect on this rig, rather than just being low.

Took some measurements, drilled some holes, and got the trailing arm crossmember bolted in today. Used some PVC pipe to mock up the rear suspension without actually having to have the rear axle in.
  Also clamped the fuel tank up to the frame to check the fit. It's sumped with a -10 fitting.

Got the crossmember up to the frame last night...after cleaning up the shop, it's all the further I got before the wife wanted me to come in for the night...
    Also, while I was waiting for parts to show up, I built this patina'd die-cast blazer. Got it on my desk at work to keep me motivated

Since you are going coil overs and have plans for Big Hp are you doing anything more to the frame to increase its stiffness to get all you can out of those front and rear suspensions?
After drilling some holes in my frame(2wd conversion) I can tell they sure arent made out of the same material as later model GM trucks.... Nice build either way |
