Re: Looking at buying this 64 this weekend, what ya think?

How are the cab corners and rocker panels? Roof and drip rails? Hard to tell, paid 2,600 for my stepside with some cab rust issues in Virginia. In Missouri now, would probably go 1,900 to 2,200 depending on engine and transmission, now it looks underneath, how much I wanted it, etc...

Re: Looking at buying this 64 this weekend, what ya think?

Rust free is rare! Make sure it hasnt been in an accident, get underneath and make sure the frame isnt tweaked, cracked, etc... If its rust free it would be an awesome truck to start with! on a second look after not having beer in me I would probably try to go around 1,600 to take it home, what were you thinking on the price?

That truck would sell for about 2200-2800 roughly where I live depending on how good it runs stops and steers

Get it! Even at $1500, it's an absolute steal. If he bites at $1200, it's even better!

Finding a rust-free 60-66 in Mississippi is like finding an honest politician. Nearly impossible.

Aarg...why do people chop up perfectly good dashes. Love the old school edelbrock valve covers too. Good price on truck. Definitely check on front driver side frame for damage. The rest of the sheet metal looks original to the truck, but w/the grill support, fender and hood mismatched...may have been in a wreck. Notice no holes for trim on the driver side front fender.

Actually it was in a fender bender and the old hood got messed up along with the front fender! Frame looks great from what I can tell, any tell tale signs to look for??

Re: Looking at buying this 64 this weekend, what ya think?

Any pulling inward or outward of the frame, flexing of the frame while turning the wheel, cracks of any kind, etc... is what I would look for. Try to gut under the front while someone turns the wheel left and right so you can look for flexing aroun dthe steering gear box for cracks. Check the drip rails for rust, look where the front and back windows rubber meets the cab, look for rust that was covered up, etc... Good luck, hope you get it and it turns out good, looks like a nice truck!
