Damn You!!
Kidding, of course. It's gonna look great. Are you putting full trim on the fleet. If I didn't have the step, I definitely would. I love the way that looks.

Nice choice of wheels ! that is how you should look at it, whether it's wheels, bed, or any other decision about your build. personal preference all the way. It's about having a good time with it during the build, and after. Rock and Roll Keith !

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I was reading it thinking .. How the h3ll is he going to fit those under the stepside ? Then I read on. Nooo!

Just kididng man. It will look great either way I'm sure. I think I'm going to put a wooden stake bed on my 68 just in revolt. I am boycotting this fleetside stuff. I'm tired of it ! (just playing .. )

I couldn't decide so I just got one of each.

Great choice on the wheels and the great advice too. You're absolutely right about flowing your heart and making changes to get something that has you standing in the garage staring at it.

You gotta follow your heart and do what feels right on these builds! Its what makes the truck yours and makes you smile every time you walk into the garage and see it!

Yeah I'm going to run the side trim, undecided about the front and rear trim at this time. I have plenty of time to figure it out though.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure I was making all the right decisions before it was to late and I was unhappy with it.

Sorry Chad I do love Steppers but I just like Fleets more. I was finding that with the Stepper i was having a hard time sqeezing everything in it that I wanted. The Fleet just gives me more room and the look I want.

Thanks Zoomin, I know I am making the right choice. In the end when this truck is finished I will have exactly what I envisioned when I bought it.

Thanks my heart was saying fleetside so I am changing back to what the truck was born as. It will just be a different color than it was originally

Keith, you have a great build going there young man. I can't wait to see those wheels on your truck. NICE...

One thing, though. I'm not sure who changes their mind more... you, or my son Chad (CC69Rat).

Funny thing... you both always seem to make the RIGHT choices. Hey, when you are spending more on wheels and tires than I paid for my first car (a '67 RS/SS Camaro), I can see where it would be tough to decide.

Yeah we both change our minds alot but hopefully this is the last change for me. My Wife and my father both laugh at me everytime I change something. My father keeps telling me to stop changing things and just finish it, which is now the plan.

I started out with a very small budget when I first got this truck but things have gotten alot better for me so thats the reason for all the changes. I'm just doing what I wanted in the beginning but couldn't afford. I bought my truck for $500 and now will have about 6 times that in wheels and tires

I tried talking myself into the stepper but i'm a fleetside guy at heart. Don't get me wrong I love Steppers especially bagged ones but I just love a clean Fleetside more. I didn't want to build this truck and then end up selling it cause it wasn't what I wanted. I have put way to much blood, sweat and tears into it. I have cancelled my order with Mar-K and will be selling the NOS Stepper fenders i have and the bed steps.

In the end I will have the exact truck I always wanted with with my favorite wheels on it. I can now breathe easy as I feel this build is back on track to where I want it to be

I am also a fleetside guy at heart. ?I am glad to see that you decided on a set of wheels. I had to make a poll if you remember to make the choice to what what wheel to buy this time around. Wheel descision is the hardest part as it can make or kill the look of your build. I cant wait to see these bad boy done!!!

congrats!!

I also have learned my lesson buy what I really want out of the gate !!

Thanks Al, I do remember the poll you put up. I almost did the same thing it just came down to which wheels I have always loved and wanted. I knew I would be happy with these for a long time.

Nice looking wheels, they will look great with a fleet side. As for your box decision I can relate.
I started off with a newer step but no body liked them, then I decided on a fleet. Next I landed a really really nice set of OE steps with 8000 miles and thought they were so good I had to use them. But since I really had my mind up on a fleet to solve the dilemma a now am collecting parts for a second stepper build (so keep your eyes open for it, starting in about ten years or so...lol)

Keep up the great work!

Thanks, I landed a really nice set of original stepper fenders and was like what the hell let's make it a stepper. After a couple of months of trying to talk myself into it I woke up and realized I'm really a fleetside guy so I decided to switch back.

Now, .. I'm considering fleetside on my 68.

I'm 95% sure I'll stay with the stepper though. But, the thought has crossed my mind.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Picked up a Nice Fleetside Bed from member Jimbabwe today. It was nice to meet Jim, he is a very nice guy and had just what I needed This bed is much better then my original, it has a steel floor in it that has some rot but I don't plan on using it cause I'm going with a wood floor. The bedsides are in very good shape as is the Tailgate. My front bed panel off of my original bed is for a wood floor and is actually in good shape so i'll just switch it out. I'll have to purchase some wood floor cross sills as mine are rotted out but thats ok. Here are some pics sorry the last one is a little blurry. I got it home and sat it on my frame for now, didn't want to sit it outside in the elements. I don't want it to rust out before I get to it.

Less stepside competition. I 'm happy about that!
It was good to meet you and your dad. We'll have to meet up sometime when we're both rolling!
Is anyone gonna comment on my hedges? There was some excitement on another build somewhere regarding somebody's grass!

Thanks John I think they look great in all shapes and sizes, stepper, fleet, slammed or lifted. That's the beauty of these trucks, they look great no matter what.

Oh I hope I get to see that Chad, don't tease me. You do need a new notch as your putting the other one on the gmc. Just go all the way with a dropmember

Yeah I dropped out of the stepside competition and re-entered the fleetside competition. Hopefully I'll be rolling in another year, that is as long as I don't change anything else

In all seriousness I am done with the changes on this truck for a long long time. The only other thing I would like to do to it is front/rear dropmembers but it will be years before I could afford that, especially after buying the new wheels. I am focused now on getting this truck done so I can finally drive and enjoy it.
