Not sure if this helps but when I changed out my intake I upgraded my throttle linkage. I used to heim joints and a pieve of 5/16 fine threaded rod (I think). I used shoulder bolts to fasten heim joints to the carb, and throttle linkage. If this helps, I could take it apart and take more detailed pics.
Let me know!

I should note that my carb is a holley, and my truck is a 66, but the engine is a 283

thats awesome - thanks for the ideas!
as for the vent thing i simply pulled igt and installed a freeze plug and used valve covers with an oil filler, a breather and a pcv valve to the carb. hope that helps! |

I have a 66 that had a 2bbl/283. Dropped in a 350 with a AFB 4bbl. old style manual 4sp tranny. Used original rod and ends for the throttle linkage... Just beefed up the return spring. Works great.... so far.

No issue, it is currently serving as the PCV valve port. It is actually on the deck of the block between the distributor and the firewall. It's days are numbered though as I am about to order a 350 crate engine, just way too expensive to even think about rebuilding the 283.
