This is an old photo of my chassis with air springs and no frame modifications at the time...

Re: Just bags

I am looking at the porterbuilt stage... I think one kit. Bags, brackets, shocks, upper and lower shock relocate brackets, and the porterbuilt adjustable trac-bar. Kit is around 370, bar is 150ish. This is from Travis @ AZ Pro Performance, he is a vendor on here. Then you just need to plumb in a shraeder valve somewhere so you can adjust ride height. This works for me as I tow a trailer, and often have a load in the back, so adjusting ride height is quick and easy.

Re: Just bags

Most fully compressed bags are only 3" tall.
That will give you some indication, if you measure that, against the height of the springs you have installed now.
The addition of drop spindles up front will get you 2.5"-3" lower.
Just remember you need drop shocks, rear shock relocators, and an adjustable track bar.

Look here for more bagged 60-66 truck pics:

Re: Just bags

for me, the point of bags was to lay frame. For those of you that bag your truck but will never lay frame, what is your motivating factor, better ride? Porterbuilt has some nice mild bag setups that are nearly bold on for guys who don't want to lay, and its priced well.

Re: Just bags

Many people use air springs for ride height and load adjustability while maintaining ride comfort.

Re: Just bags

My '69 with 2.5" drop spindles, and what would be the same as a Porterbuilt Stage 1 kit in the back (no blocks, no notch)

At this stage it still has original spindles. Saving pennies to do drop spindles disc conversion

We have one truck that will lay frame the other does not. We went with bags over static on the non-scraper so we can have a lower truck and then lift it to get out of my driveway lol
