'82 scottsdale wont turn over, help.

I went out one day to try and start the truck and it tried once and then after that it won't even crank. I have had the starter checked. Checked the batteries they both have 12.2v, checked the continuity from the battery to starter cable. I"m now woundering if the ignition switch has gone bad?
Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should be looking for? Like stated it doesn't even turn over. Acts like there isn't a battery connected, very strange and frustrating.

Thanks in advance for your time and ideas.

James

Put a test light on the little s terminal on the starter to see if your getting power to the starter when you turn the key, if not it may be the ignition switch.

Ok, I missed read the steps in in the Haynes manual. The little wire on the solenoid is possible bad if you have 10+ volts. It didn't read anything when in the start position. So I replaced the ignition switch and it didn't solve the problem.

Now I have to back up in steps. The next thing it says is that's its in the wiring to the starter. I checked for continuity on the positive starter wire and it passed.

Has anyone ran into a similar issue?

solved problem. now I think I just need to purge the fuel system. I wasn't aware of the fuel gauge not working and that's why I was in this big mess to begin with. I stared a new thread to find out what this item is called that caused this problem.

first place to look with any electrical issue is to check the ground. Remove the ground strap from the batter to frame, clean it, add a star washer, and put it back on. If you have power at all the necessary places, your issue is likely a searching ground.
