engine questions

I have an 82 c10 with original engine its a 250 4.1 with th350 transmission,
Someone is selling me a 1963 283 v8 engine with transmission, the only bad thing is thay its missing the fan and other front things, I want to know if I can use my 250 fan on that 283, also he said the transmission has no tail shaft, I also want to know if I can use my transmission or swap the tailshaft,

He is selling it for $200

reason I want to change engine is because my 250 has a leak on the tailshaft, also leak on water pump, and gas leak on the base of the carburator and I have already invested time and money on my 250 as u can see on the pics,

any advice?

Re: engine questions

u are gonna need a bigger radiator, all the different brackets for power st. pump, air cond. compressor, also i would find a v8 fan, your trans will bolt up but you may need a different convertor?? you will need new exhaust
why not just fix your 250 it is way better on gas than that 283 will be not to mention you should replace every gasket in that 283.. how many miles on the 283???

Re: engine questions

just my opinion but i think you will be money ahead fixin the issues with your 250.
if you seriously want to switch to a v8 save your money and buy a rebuilt or a crate engine around 1200-1800......
