Oil Filter

What kinda oil and filer is every body running? Im about to do a oil change on the 86 2500, 350. picked up 6 quarts of Lucas Oil Semi Synthetic, have a Carquest blue on there now but thinking bout getting a K&N or Napa Gold This time. What are you running?

WIX, OR NAPA GOLD. both have the anti drainback valve and oil preure builds faster. hot or cold. I won't ue anything else.

Will this fit 1984 GMC 350 engine?

I just checked Summit website and yes it does fit--I ll be ordering one of these -bigger = more filtration. But I still like Wix filters

Wix number for the long (2 quart) filter is 51794. I use the Baldwin filter B7 version of this.

This. I've used Pennzoil filters and I like them too. Wix and Napa golds come first though!

Used to always be a delco guy, now run a Mobil 1 filter after reading the info on the link. Been running Schaeffer oil for a couple years after working with some fleets that started running it.

Amsoil EA series filter. Best filter I have found. AC Delco would be a real close 2nd.

I know fram sucks, but according to that list the xtended guard scored good. Anyone run this filter?

fram uses paper inside. i use k&n also. They have a nut for a socket right on the bottom which makes it simple to remove.

I was really surprised about that too, that filter gets really close to the $15 Royal Purple and Amsoil filters and it only costs $8. That's the same as what O'reilly's charges for the WIX filter I use that didn't do near as good. This filter may be what I buy for my next oil change.

Whatever is on sale. Of course, you're asking a guy that changes the oil in his square every two or three years, whether it needs it or not.

Honestly, if you change oil often and regularly,we put 190,000 miles on my wife's 97 expedition ( notice I didn't say the F word ) on WALMARTS SUPERTECH OIL AND FILTER, before we gave it to my daughter and she traded it in. Ran just like new....

on a stock vehicle, i have only ever used whatever pepboys/autozone/checker/walmart anyone has on sale, no synthetic, only dino 10-30.

never had a problem.

It gets cold here in Indiana! I ued to fire up my 2 trucks and wait for the pressure to build. After reading the facts on wix and napa gold (wix makes napa gold filters) I decided to switch and the presure builds right off the bat. click on the link and notice and see for yourself the NO's that ac offers.
I have had good results with wix and napa. as soon as I start the engine the pessure buils imidiatly unlike any other filter I've ever used. It's your choice,

Think I'm going to buy a royal purple filter for breaking in my engines now haha. The anti drain back valves really don't serve a purpose in our v8s other than a flow restriction. I usually block of the bypass on my engines with high output oil pumps that are run hard (10-20%) not the hv series. But for a block off its highly recomended you have a HIGH FLOW filter so the oil pressure builds quick. I don't like the fact that at 20lbs of pressure the oil bypass opens up and a lot of oil go's by unfiltered which defeats the purpose of a good filter anyways
A lot of guys at the track here used to run frams but a while back they started imploding and people's engines would get the filter media run through the engine and seized them. I'm sure the high pressure pumps are putting a lot of pressure on the filters and calapsing them.
