No, I mean 2-3 years. I've had my '78 since new and I have about 160,000 miles on it. Which means I don't drive it too much. The 454 has proven to be darn near bullet-proof.

Three months is all the longer oil sits in anything of mine. Moisture build up kills oil and lubrication. Especially when the day gets warm then cold

A lot of guys at the track here used to run frams but a while back they started imploding and people's engines would get the filter media run through the engine and seized them. I'm sure the high pressure pumps are putting a lot of pressure on the filters and calapsing them.

I've been using royal purple for a while now. They seem to think they're the best all around filter (for now) over at bobistheoilguy. They certainly filter a lot better than the others on the market. Down to 25 microns. However, what exactly are you referring to when you talk about the bypass? The thing that comes to mind when you mention that is the spring inside the oil filter that closes the oil filter off when you start hot rodding. However, I've never seen a way to get that thing out without destroying the filter.

Heard about some kind of anti water thing... can't remember. It was something you can put in a line somewhere and it would get all the water out. It was like a filter of sorts and you would come along and drain it every once in a while. It was like some kind of weird dehumidifier thing. Looked cool though for getting rid of the moisture that builds up in the oil pan. That is what you're referring to right? Where else would have enough exposed surface area to get some water going? I guess maybe the valve covers.

Your whole engine block has air inside at all times. When you shut off the engine in a cold climate it condenses just like on your windows.

Royal purple also changed their formula. No more synerlec in thier regular oil but its priced the same go figure. So now you have to use the hps series. Which cand be bought online and shipped for about the Same price as their old stuff. That synerlec additive is what everybody on bob is the oil guy said make it a great oil now it's just a purple synthetic that can hold up to some heat- pointless to just get some stupid API ratings.

The bypass I'm talking about is on the filter adapter in the block itself. It opens at 20psi and is good for clogged oil filters and really thick cold oil. I change my oil to a thinner oil in winter anyways. And always at 3500 miles even with synthetic. Though I've let it go to 5000 miles and not felt bad about it like I would with dyno oil

WIX and NAPA gold are made by the same place...... identical in every way other than the name. I've used them for the last few years now.

napa gold and valvoline 10 w 40. stopped burning alot of oil my truck seems to prefer this combo
