There was another member that did this in his swap and it turned out pretty cool. Not sure if you have seen it or not but here is the link. Check out post # 31 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=479956&page=2 |

Re: using newer silverado gauges in a 71 c10?
getting the guages to work was easier then I thought and really only took minimal fab work to get them in place in my 72 dash.
I'll tell you now; i get tons of compliments and love the way they turned out. Plus I saved a heap of money and have fully functional modern guages. let me know if you have any specific questions |

Re: using newer silverado gauges in a 71 c10?
Sorry, short on Progress pics... I get in the mode to get things done and have a very hard time stopping to get pics.
I used stock '99 pigtail and spliced a lot of the wires off the 72 instrument cluster plug Lights, blinkers ect. the other wires came from engine / PCM harness and took care of fuel, eng temp, batt, speedo, tach. couple of lights I could not figure out where the high beam; still get ABS warning(just blacked it out) and "Security" constant on from the 99 mesg center. I just put a switch inline with the power wire to prevent the "Securty" msg from running my Battery down. The Data wire coming from PCM will carry what you need for the Speedo, Tach and other engine functions. I'll try and dig up the Instrument Cluster Pin-Outs I have from the project |

Re: using newer silverado gauges in a 71 c10?
I have silverado gauges set up in mine similar to Gunny's. Very easy to do. You may need the correct sending unit for fuel and also the correct oil pressure sender depending if you have the 99-02 or 03-06 gauges, other than that you everything comes through the serial data and hook up the turn signals. It's a cheap and nice setup. I clipped my pigtail off an Oldsmobile Bravada which was a mistake because I had to change all the pinouts, but it did work. That's what I get for forgetting a torx driver when I went to the junkyard. The Olds already had the dash out.
