switching out large door mirrors for normal ones? can you?

alright I'm buying a 1965 C10 kinda like this one pictured and it has the large door and cab mounted mirrors that look goofy

is there a way without doing bodywork to the cab to make a smaller vanity mirror work on the truck? i hate the stock ones!

which stock ones do you dislike? the current ones you have , or the smaller round ones ?

you shouldn't have a problem using some peep mirrors, or the smaller chrome mirror that gm used as a standard mirror for most of thier passenger cars and light trucks from the 70's to the mid 80's.

if you do some ebay searching you should be able to find some cool aftermarket (like j.c. whitney) one size fits all mirrors from the 50's and 60's

all these should only require you to drill a few holes.

if you use the stock oe round mirror the driver door is always tapped for it, even if it wasn't used.-unless the po filled the holes.

the mirrors in the picture are the ones i DON'T like.

i like smaller mirrors like most other trucks seem to have nowadays i guess I'll just have a hole on the cab if i put smaller ones on the door?

Be sure to fill the holes so rain does not get in there and start to rust things.

Hey;
You could just take the mirrors you have off, then put some sealant on the same mounting screws (holding the mirrors on now) and run them back into the holes, closing them up,...no body work, and it will seal the holes too. Then mount your new small mirror on the driver side using the preexisting holes and screws.
Just a thought......

You shouldn't need to cut any holes in your cab. The Driver door already has the weld nuts in place. The pax door won't have the weld nuts but it will have the stiffiner in place. Just measure the driver door and transfer to the pax door... Use rivnuts in the door skin. Installation should take less then 45min. if you hit it !! Good luck...
Oh yeah. Weld or fill the holes from your original installations! Don't want any water intrusion!!
