how to tell difference in tops???

Question on single wall and double wall tops.

How can you tell from pictures?

What are the pros and cons of either of the two?

Some may say do a search, but the Captain in me thinks that is too many steps!

Re: how to tell difference in tops???

If the pictures are only of the outside, I'm not sure you can tell very easily. The interior is pretty easy. The double wall has ribs in the top and the single wall doesn't. The single wall you can see the lip at the bottom where the bolts go through; the double wall is smooth to the bottom. The single wall also has two dome lights on the driver's side, although I've heard of at least one double wall that has the dome lights as well.

Weight is a difference for one. The single wall top bolts from the top down and double wall bolts from the bottom up. Single walls have lights and very few double walls have lights mounted according to some forum members who have a double wall with lights. I have never seen one though.

It's kind of hard to tell the weight from pictures. Even with the top on hand, it's kind of hard to weigh.

I think you have the weights mixed up i have owned two double wall tops and the single wall I now have is much heavier than the double walls.
