Try and make the Donut Derelicts on Saturday morning. Has a ton of neat hot rods.
Get there early (6:00 am would be good). http://www.donutderelicts.com/contactus.html Kim |

If you're looking for something to do later tonight (Friday), we'll be playing some West Coast blues at Harold's in San Pedro.

Re: anyone in LA Anahiem area this weekend?
I know! I couldn't get Disney to reschedule the Tinkerbell half marathon or the 11,000 people to ride with me over to GNRS-lol. My wife and a friend of hers are running 13.2 miles through the park with 11,000 others on Sunday morning to benifit Anahiem United Way. I just get to tag along , drive them around and make them stop at every In and Out I find

Re: anyone in LA Anahiem area this weekend?
Up at 5 and hit the Donut Derilics gathering in HuningtonBeach. WOW! Must have been over 100 cars and trucks that filled the lot. I got there at 5:15 and out by 7am. They have been getting together for 30 years and they leave the lot before 8am when the mini mall businesses open up. Here's some pics, not the greatest, but without them it. Never happened right? Off to Disneyland and CARS today.
. . .and back where I started at 5:15 . . . Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: anyone in LA Anahiem area this weekend?
I hope you picked up some window stickers from Adams Donut Shop for your rear window !!
The Sat. D. D. crowd in Tucson is much smaller but it is fun to attend, and gone by 9:00 AM

Re: anyone in LA Anahiem area this weekend?
Recap on the weekend:
Saturday early a.m. you have to hit the Adams Donut shop on Adams in Huntington Beach, its a must see. C.A.R.S. at California Adventure is " blow your mind if your an automotive nut" experience and a definate must see. The Disney Tinkerbell run was a well thoughht out and executed event that could never be topped by anyone other than Disney. Anyone who is a runner and likes anything Disney should attend this on your bucket list. It's you against a 3 hour and 30 minute clock starting at 4am with 10-12,000 like minded maniacs dressed in fairy attire and who paid $150 per just to run , not including all things Disney and the weekend. You line up by your avaerage recorded 3k, 5k, 10k times in gates and the race starts. They shoot up a bunch of fireworks to start . Once your gate takes off , you and several thousand work your way around Disney along the bordering streets and then enter through the guarded Cast Member Entrance. You get to see the behind the scenes horse stables, fire department, kitchen facilities etc and they are spotless clean. All of the rides are going, neon lit up, cast members are lined up through the park, princesses and characters waiving. There are people/family/friends cheering you on holdng inspirational sigs like " cancer hurts worse", " you trained harder than this" , " go! Tinkerbell is with you" Once you have come off your adreinalin high and cross the finish line, you get a really cool medal ( that airport tsa security had to inspect as they were seeing thousands of them in carry on luggage lol) Last edited by NEWFISHER; 01-23-2013 at 07:46 PM. |
