check out my buddys scrap trailer
I went to my buddys to get some parts and I almost cried when I saw what he's taking to scrap. There is a lot of decent hoods in that pile and i couldent talk him out of scraping them.

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
Rust free Az hoods ought to bring a premium. And how are the scrap prices?

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
Hmmm. Taking original parts out of circulation raises prices. If I was in Az I'd buy em... Damn

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
no way. uncool. i admit there's no point saving something if it's just going to sit on a shelf and rot away, but someone could find good homes for this stuff.

I can't bear to look any closer at those pix. Only consolation is it makes the ones we already own worth more.

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
I cannot handle seeing things like this. I had looked for months for a decent hood, that is sacrilegious to our hobbie! I am going to have to go to counciling now.

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
I sure wish I was closer. I needed a hood for the build on my '67 and instead of buying a new stock looking hood I went with a cowl hood since the prices were not that different.
Originally I wanted a stock hood, but now since I have the cowl hood on the truck I like the looks better with the strips.

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
That's pretty ignorant to scrap something just because you are no longer interested, don't want to deal with it,don't need the money,or whatever...like you're the only person in the world. There's supposed to be more to it than that. He's not getting near what anything's worth,so sell it to someone who doesn't mind "dealing with it".

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
How can someone have that many parts and scrap them for peanuts?
Doesn't he realize how much money he could have made?

It seems backwards to save a bunch of window regulators that are pretty much a dime a dozen, but scrap good hoods. Is he a little...""

Re: check out my buddys scrap trailer
He does not scrap everthing that was probaly only a 1/3 of the hoods he has.
His door and fender collection is just as big. He does sell alot. I think at some point you have to thin the heard. Trust me he saves the good stuff look at this pic its his tilt column storage! |
