5 on 5 to 5 on 4 3/4 ???

i have a 61 short wide, changed the old rearend and the front cross member to 1980 running gear. can it be converted from the 5on5 bolt patern the more popular 5on4 3/4?http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...lies/chevy.gif also i would love to post some pics but they are to large. what is everybody using to post pics .

Our home uses a free photo-ed ap called PICASO; downloaded from the 'net. Lucked up on it several years back and really enjoy it--easily intuitive and does ALL we non-shutterbugs want.

You've probably already found that rear wheel width is limited to about a 7-incher if you install nice-sized tires? But conversion on rears should be no problem--they can be re-drilled; may need to turn center registers to match.

Maybe someone will chime in with info on rotors that will work on the front. Else, if adapters are available with 1-inch width, they would make your front wheels/tires track more nearly with the rears: you're already 3/4-inch wider, per side, on rears just from the diff'l change. Such adapters would cut the difference to just 1/4-inch, now wider on the front, which your ride should be able to handle.

That is for converting to front discs using the original '63-'70 spindles. The OP has already upgraded the front of his '61 with a '80 crossmember and complete suspension.

I just drilled the 5 x 4-3/4" pattern into new 91 burb rotors (cost 17.00 each) installed new studs and away she went. cost $50.00 ...

ok ok. i will leave them 5 on 5. the only reason i was looking to change was i found a set of torque thrust rims 18 x7 for dirt cheep and that was the rim i wanted. on the other question, i have tried to post pics from photobucket, picasa and imageshack, and it still wont post to the site. am i doing something wrong. ive tried single pics and from a url.

If using Picasa, save the pic to desktop(easiest place for me to re-find it) using a recognizable/fitting name. When posting, scroll down to "manage attachments"(or similar); click on the top-most "BROWSE", go to desktop, double-click on the saved-and-named pic, click on "upload", give it a coupla seconds to 'do its thing'. Pic is now uploaded, ready to "submit" along with text. Click "Preview" to ensure pic is present along w/text; then click "Submit". Done!

Maybe you can buy them, and trade them later for another set that's 5 on 5 or sell for a higher price to fund what you want.

Did your rotors have the ribs in between the original studs on the back side. All the C10 5s5 rotors I have seen have those ribs on the back side. It seems like those ribs would pose a problem with drilling a second bolt pattern in between the original.
