Re: Rebuilding Suspension
You don't have to but when I bought all my Moog parts I bought the control arm shaft kits. Also I bought a pitman arm. Bought all my stuff from Summit. Do you have a front sway bar? If so then new bushings for it too. What ever you do just put some quality parts on it and you won't regret it.

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
I called and asked Sonny for a quote on all MOOG front end kit parts for my 86, he quoted me
"The price on the front end rebuild kit in MOOG Chassis parts and Energy Suspension bushings would be $772.00." Sonny Taiwan parts for same kit.... 320.00 That's freaking ridiculous...

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
Quote:
Summit did not have the control arm shaft kits at the time. Now all that being said I am sure the kit you guys are talking about does not include the control arm kit and instead is probably offering just the bushings. This would drop the price quite a bit. Through summit the upper bushings are 18.95 as set and would need two and lowers are 23.95. So you could take off $169.58 off the $676.86 and be at $507.28. Now like I said I don't know what kit the other company offers and all what is included in it but those are the figures I come up with as I already bought my stuff for my short bed. If we are comparing apples to apples then that is quite a difference. But I wouldn't put cheap parts on. To rebuild all the front supension, steering, drop spindles, drop springs, all new rear leaf bushings and new shackles and bushings with flip kit I have about. $1200. Drop kit was western chassis. That isn't bad for all brand name parts IMO.

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
I bought my springs (which are moog) from rock auto for something like $68 each, while the local parts stores wanted at least 90 for them

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
yeah I almost $hit my pants when he gave me that quote... I could probably get a tubular control arm kit with all the ball joints/rod ends etc. for close to that much.

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
My moog parts were like 430 total from summit a whole back
I just got qa1 ball joints and energy suspension bushings up front. The moog stuff was pitman arm and idler arm both inner and outer tie rods left and right and new adjusting sleeves I added drop spindles as well before that order. I moved the control arms forward an inch the adjustable ball joints and got a nice custom alignment. With 1/8ths total toe and 7.5* caster and -1 camber. Been going for a year and the front tires are still new. It shouldn't be super spendy with a front rebuild kit. Posted via Mobile Device
