Re: Tail light fuel filler
Guys, we have had a small setback with the bending process. I have redesigned in a fashion that should make it feasible to bend without issue.
I hope to have a sample this coming week. I'll post results as soon as I have them. Cheers! Mickm69 |

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Hi Guys,
I apologize for the delay but real life work schedule has been a real pain. I have gotten the proto-type plate completed and installed in our C-10 test section. This design will be able to be added to a completed painted truck with non welding requred. There was a minor issue with hinging but I have now revised this so the pan is 99% done. I am now working on the aluminum light door and hope to have a completed unit shortly. I'll post some pics as soon as I have the entire unit in place and working properly. Cheers! Mickm69 |

Thanks Mickm69 for all of the hard work! I know this isn't the most convenient time for you to take on a project like this, but it is appreciated.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
How is this working out for you guys? I am curious to know. There are a few things that worry me with this.
Lights = electricity = possible spark Gasoline fill = spillage = fumes Don't get me wrong, this mod scores cool stealthy points, but I would question safety. Legal ramifications would keep me from building a kit for distrubution. Something to think about...JMO. You guys be careful!

Re: Tail light fuel filler
I'm sure I'll take one too, where to put the filler is the major hang up I have with relocating tank.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Guys,
I am still tweaking on the tail light filler. I have a couple changes that have raised their head this week that I need to address. The aluminum tail light lens plate proto is completed and it seems like everyting there is good. The issues I am addressing now is proper spacing of the light lens to the truck when hinged and retention values on the assembly when in the closed posture. I will back to working on it next week. There is light at the end of the tunnel at this point and I appreciate everyone's enthusiam and patients. Now, with this being said, for those of you who are waiting on this design, here are significant modifications required to the internal structure of the drivers side rear bed. Beside drilling mounting holes within the confines of the tail light box, at least two faces will require cutting. This will not be an exercise where you will simply unscrew the tail light and drill four holes and screw in the new assembly. Just making you aware and I'll post some pictures as soon as I have a completed unit. Cheers! Mickm |

Re: Tail light fuel filler
It's great you are putting so much time into this design. I am sure everyone will appreciate the final product. If you are making a list please add me to it. I agree with the others finding a good place to fill your relocated tank is a pain. Already had a truck with the fill in the bed and it was a PITA to fill.
