Re: pics of door seals
Here's mine in progress. Still left long on the bottom until they relax and stretch a bit before cutting to fit.

Re: pics of door seals
just changed the rear door on my '85 crew with a '77 sub door. older doors also had a piece of weatherstrip on the top half of door. i ditched it & used the one on the cab

Re: pics of door seals
Just a reminder for those who may not know. When trimming the excess, never cut in line with other end, always overlap about an inch then butt the two ends together and press the excess backwards through the seal. Not only does this help compensate for shrinkage but also creates pressure at the ends for a tighter bond.

Re: pics of door seals
Exactly. You can see the bad job the previous owner of mine did on the post above. There was a good couple inches of gap on the bottom. MY new seals will be tight.

Re: pics of door seals
All pickups/Suburbans 73-87 (91) had the same on-body press on bulb seal for the front & rear doors. You need to trim more from the rear doors since the opening is a little smaller.
The upper door seal is a little strange. As trout mentioned correctly earlier the front door upper goes 73-82. The rear door (according to the GM books) goes up to 91. This, like I said seams a little strange to have an upper on the rear but not the front from 83-91, but that's what our research showed when we tooled these parts. Derek

but my 78 is 4X4 with leaky, and sometimes moving ,outer seals, no inside panels,in the rear ,roof liner etc the 79 is 4X2 is quieter to start with the rear panels , roof liner etc I'd say yes,it seems like the inner seal, makes less noise come in and even a softer closeing thud Posted via Mobile Device
