Gun Racks, yes, Gun Racks.... Show me please.

Once again, as part of this whole development of the truck I would like to ultimately drive, I would love to see what the gun racks look like that people have, or removed from their trucks.

Here in England you cannot even carry a tea towel if it is deemed to be an offensive weapon, so I want to make some replica rifles and fit them to gun racks for shows and get together meetings.

I previously made a rough copy of a double barreled shotgun, being careful not to make it at all authentic, as it could cause chaos in this narrow minded country of cowards.

Fancy dress brief:

I do not exactly look like any hero, so thought a member of the "Dirty Dozen" would be as close as I would get to looking like Clint Eastwood.

The plan was to get a Poundshop Revolver and Sheriffs badge, and use a Stetson hat, some old Cowboy boots I bought years ago, and never wore, as well as a blanket shaped to look like a Poncho..... get the picture ?

Handgun was easy,Sheriff badge and life size 44magnum replica with authentic electronic sound = £0.99p.

Old Primark blanket, cut and sewn to form neck hole of poncho = £2.00

Then I thought, Rifle, shotgun ?

Popped over to the local council tip, as I had no pipe to use at home, got a length of pipe, took some cast off timber from the pile I have in Nicola's garden , cut it roughly by hand with a circular saw..... Rifle but shape.

Went home Sunday night and started at about 7pm, by 10.30pm, I had sprayed the but of the 44 Magnum satin black, shaped the Shotgun but, painted it and the "barrels" satin black, dried it all over the garage heater, and also in the airing cupboard with the heating turned up high.

Careful not to make it look too real.

Result......

Full size replica.

Garden timber, and scrap pipe.

Single barrel rifle ???

Naaahhh, Scatter gun.

Rough shaping of butt done.

Hand shaped trigger guard.

Hung out to dry.

Old leather belt for shoulder strap.

Dirty old man ??

Hope you liked the outcome.

Thanks for that.

Glad they are not replicas.

Being an African, I do prefer my gun to smoke, rather than be smoked.

Here is one in the 3/4 ton I just bought. You are welcome to it if you want, just pay shipping. It needs replasti-coated though.

I think this one has an air rifle:
that looks like the owner bill and zz top in the second shot.

If he skips on the gun rack, let me know what you'd like to cover shipping.

I remember the "good ole days" (I'm only 37) when men were men and trucks had racks with guns in them. Grizz, I'm afraid Commiefornia (California) has gone the way of England.

Exactly. There was a time where every truck had a gun rack (and every family had a truck). That was in the mountains of Nor Cal where hunting was a way of life. After the downfall (gone the way of England), I use to carry my fishing rods in the gun rack. Now folks don't even have gun racks any longer. Guess they just get their meat from the market...........

Re: Gun Racks, yes, Gun Racks.... Show me please.

I still have one in my 68.You can barely see it in the picture.
Down here in south Mississippi, everyone has guns and gun racks.Always have.
Unfortunately,I can't leave the guns in the truck un-attended,because they will be stolen.Or,even the whole truck!

Re: Gun Racks, yes, Gun Racks.... Show me please.

I want to put a gun rack in my 66. It used to have one in there when it was in the USA but the previous owner removed it. I have left the holes hoping that I can find one to put back in.

Be handy to carry umbrellas in and then replace em with a toy rifle when im at a show....

If any members have an old one that they want to sell/get rid of then feel free to message me.

Here's mine - I think it's a law in Oklahoma that you have to have a gun rack if your truck is over 25 years old...

Re: Gun Racks, yes, Gun Racks.... Show me please.

Got one in the side window of my '61 Suburban... use it all the time during hunting season, and I'm going to use it again today when I go buy a Winchester 12-gauge pump riot shot gun from a friend.

Just waiting to go in.

I'm sure the sheriff won' question what a lowered, brightly colored truck on drag tires is doing with a couple of assault weapons in the rear window

Great eye! Thats a custom barrel and gas block from Accuracy Systems in Colorado on a Mini 30...they bedded the receiver and did some trigger work. Good setup for deer and javelina....I'd attach a link to their website but can't figure out the copy function on my GF's mac book.
