Reverse lights ??

So I had a question I see some trucks with reverse lights some with out. Was it standard for them or was it a option. I was cleaning mine yesterday and I realized the lens are glass. Pretty cool. I'm having a lot of fun pulling everything apart and cleaning it.

it was standard in 66, before that it was an option.

Re: Reverse lights ??

Was there ever a model/option that only included one reverse light? I recently purchased a long fleet bed for my project truck and the driver's side has a factory opening for a reverse lamp, but the passenger side has clearly been cut by someone with a torch. Weird...

Re: Reverse lights ??

My 66 step has the switch on the column but no sign of the lights on the fenders but who knows what's been changed over the past 47 years.

Re: Reverse lights ??

It may be safe to assume that if there is only one cutout there may be some history of panel replacement on the vehicle. I have a 65 with cutouts that I patched. My cab is a rusty mess, my bed looks really good, so I have assumed that someone has replaced my bed.

I have the same thing on mine. I know the PO put the truck together with parts from difft years. His dad had a chevy dealership. Not only were the rear fenders difft, but the fronts were also. I have a '64 on the drivers side with the correct '64 emblem, and a '66 on the pass. side with that year emblem. Plus i currently have the beauty rings and center caps on the drivers side and just the orig rims w/o rings on the pass. side. The way i figure how many people see both sides of the truck. And anyways most people (excluding us forum readers) wouldn't know the difference. I have yet to have anyone say anything other than "that's a great looking truck".
