LS to SM465 Clutch
Ok guys I'm at the point where I need a flywheel and clutch to mate my 4 speed to my lq4 but just my luck no one carries the Sachs nfw1050 flywheel in stock anymore and they can't order it.
So what are you guys running now? Any part numbers for pilot bushing a good 11'' clutch, flywheel and throw out bearing. I would really appreciate it, thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

I just picked up a brute power (same # as the sachs) .....it came out of Springfeild ....Mo ,I think. Try Orielleys, there were said to be 2 in stock (2 days ago). Also the ARP bolts are as well priced as the TTY factory stuff! Sorry, cant help on the bushing yet, as I haven't done that yet? I do recommend bronze iolite, or Kevlar ,over the needle roller tho . Here you go , # on bolts... ARP 134-2201 pp bolts, & # 330-2802 flywheel bolts. You will probably need to ream the holes in the clutch cover .015-.020 oversized, to run the 10 mm bolts through it. If you get a good # on the pilot....shoot it back Best of fun,crazyL

I've read some stuff about guys using a LS7 pilot bearing. It's a sealed roller bearing. I think I'm gonna give one a try but idk, I think if it would work it would be a more known solution .

Back at you with some of my notes... LS7 pilot #12557583 (didn't see the price, but the # I believe came off this site (talk with Leevon). Mcleod #673-8617 ,$39.99 & listed for 97-011 chev. This one is bronze (2 step deal), drives into the converter pilot hole, but also has a small step deeper into the crank. Do your own research on this one....I have not specked it out, still collecting parts? If you get yours done 1st....show me crazyL

Well I ordered the ls7 pilot bearing. It's 17.99 so I figured I'd give it a try. I would prefer a Bronze bushing but if the ls7 one works I'll stick with it until I can find a suitable bronze replacement.

Let us know how it goes....pics & part # would be cool! I am sure you will be ahead of me on the build.....too many irons in the fire! Tween the project, & "honey does", my younger bro has an S-10 that is being prepped for the track. 9 " Ford/spool/3.89 gear, Mickey ET streets, 3200 stall. I promised him the old 383, when I do the swap....should be a fun ride! The best part, I can roll it down that 1320 crazyL

Haha heck yea man will do, yea I'm in the mild of two ls series swaps my self. A lq4 going in my four wheeling truck and a 99 5.3 going in my 95 silverado lol

Figured I would post this info, hopefully it saves someone else from the troubles I went through.
It should be mentioned that, while the LS1 flywheel will "function" with an old-school 10.5 or 12" clutch, it is the WRONG solution because of the large amount of material that is missing from the center contact area of the LS1 style flywheel; A typical 10.5" or 12" clutch as we have with an old-school SBC clutch will only have about half of its friction surface actually engaged with the flywheel, because of this. Like many others, I read may posts here and elsewhere about simply using the LS1 flywheel (Sachs NFW1050) and was all fired up about being able to spend only 65 bucks on that flywheel, and be in business. Not the case. The McLeod flywheel (460535) is the right flywheel to use, unfortunately it is $400 but there is presently no cheap alternative. Novak also sells a flywheel (which I am 99 percent sure IS the McLeod 460535).
