Rear end question

I have a 12 bolt rear end and when I call local auto parts stors they keep giving me a 10 bolt gasket. However I have a 12 bolt in the truck is this factory or is the 10 bolt? From what I have read it could have came with either.

Re: Rear end question

May try NAPA or a higher end store. You can also get the fel-pro number and cross it to their system.

I had the same issue and ended up buying a gasket for a '67 C10 12 bolt and it worked fine. I think the auto parts catalogs are not correct as the 12 bolt was definitely correct for my '66.

Re: Rear end question

You might try asking for one for a different year truck. The GM truck 12 bolt was used from '63-'82 in the C10's and 2wd K5 Blazers and from '63-'79 in the K10's and K5 Blazers.

Re: Rear end question

Sounds like they're giving you a gasket for a Dana 44.

Re: Rear end question

Got it. NAPA had one for me but not after trying to tell me I have a 10 bolt, lol. But they finally got me the right 12 bolt gasket. Thanks everyone for all the help.
