Goodby, Old Friend
First off, many thanks to all of you who contributed suggestions on how to flunk a California smog test. It worked!
Last Friday, when I brought in my donor truck for the smog test at my local garage, the owner started eyeballing my Big 10. Pretty soon, there was a crowd of mechanics swarming over it and an offer was made my way. I purchased a 2013 Silverado 4WD LTZ on President's Day, so I made the gut-wrenching decision to let my Big 10 go to a new home. It seems like yesterday that I brought her home from the dealership on Christmas Eve of 1977. I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a tear or two after 35 years of reliable driving. My only consolation is that it has gone to a good home.

A moment of silence for those we have lost..... If it meant so much to you, why didn't you keep it?

That's a long time own a vehicle. Hopefully you get the same enjoyment out of the new one! I think you were the first guy I bought something from on this site. It's been almost 4 years and the gauge cluster is still working great!

Well, some guy right now is calling it his baby and how he scored it from the original owner. I hope whomever got it appreciates how you've kept it and continues. We all aren't owners of these things, we are just keepers of them and it comes a time that they all move on. I applaude you for keeping it that long.
