Re: What did you do to your truck today?

New fuel pump installed today on my SB350. It started and ran well so I guess I did it right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Still working on my 73 suspension/disc brake change over. Trying to bleed the brakes was driving me crazy. Pumping the brake pedal & bleeding didn't work, gravity bleeding didn't work, using a Mighty-Vac didn't work. I've NEVER had this much trouble getting brakes to bleed. So while at work I cut up a piece of 3/8" scrap aluminum slightly bigger than my master cylinder with a rubber gasket to match. I drilled & tapped the plate to 1/8" pipe thread, installed a regulator & ball valve, topped off the master with brake fluid, chained down my contraption, cranked the air pressure to 14 lbs and bled my brakes. I now have firm pedal pressure and good brakes!!! Next, paint the motor and get it installed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

My son-in-law dropped off first of four homemade WWW's.

I leveled the chassis with the 283 on the side mounts and standard bell housing mounts - then checked the motor for level across the exhaust manifold and it was very close to being level as well.

Blocked up the engine to keep the same position.

Cut the bell housing cross member out and cleaned up the frame.

Cleaned the FILTHY TH350C that I put in the 62 tonight. Replaced input and output shaft seals before I installed it. Worked on my filler tube since it was dinged up at some point.

Leveled engine and tranny and sat the tail-shaft on a jack stand.

Pulled some string from yoke to yoke...

Stared at it for 20 minutes since it seems so high in the frame (to me anyway).

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I went from THIS

to THIS

to THIS

All by myself in just under 4 hours. (OK, a friend helped me lift the engine out, but I had it all set up . )

So the 250ci is now out of my parts truck and getting ready for a freshen-up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Dropped the TH350 today so I can install the correct size flex plate for the new starter. The old starter blew the nose cone to pieces over the weekend because the PO used about 1.5" worth of washers to shim it in place so it would mate with the flex plate. As luck would have it, the supply store ordered the wrong size flex plate so I'll be stopping by there tomorrow to get the right one.

Good problem solving my friend.. I just rebuilt a complete brake system on a 63 c-10 panel and used a pressure bleeder from the farthest wheel cylinder and worked my way to the front with no hassles....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I got the rear end in, hooked up the shocks, put in the new track bar. I still need to put the driveline in, replace the rubber brake line, fill the diff and put all new brake stuff on. It's nice to have all new shiny parts on!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Back home. Took the 1962 out for a ride and updated my build thread. Got the hood back from paint, final bodywork no seams, just in time to get to show on Sat. Working on striping doors.

Pulled the cylinder head to be rebuilt before putting it on the donor engine. Found out what was rattling around in the old engine

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I tried to install the new rubber line for the rear brakes and it wouldn't come lose from the hard line. Good thing I got a new complete kit last week. But the rubber line is the wrong size so I need to call classic parts and see what to do. They have the wrong line listed on the site for my 66.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Make this my first post-

Installed some 64 Cadillac Hub Caps on my new 64 Custom. If you know about Caddy caps you know this is not any easy task! LOL

Used them as a cheap way to cover the rusty chrome mods it has on it!

As you can see I also took off the All Terrains in favor of some passenger car tires. 3" whites coming soon!

Nice truck!

Welcome to the board!

I would have never thought hubcaps would work those rims.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Pulled the stock sixxer and three-speed. Once I get the rust repair on the cab finished up, we'll take it down to a bare frame.
