Never ending Battle

1965 C20 with a 292 and granny four speed.
So the air-conditioner is installed and conditioning. But then the alternator couldn't keep up so a newer badder alternator is in fixing that problem. Now it's running hot!
It didn't have a fan shroud when i bought it but it never needed it. So I am on the hunt for one. Someone I know has recommended putting an auxiliary electric fan in the grill. I'd love to hear you all's wisdom. A new thermostat perhaps? Thank You in advance.

Are you running the small six cylinder radiator or the bigger model for the V8? If its the smaller one, might try the bigger one. Looks like you've added load that the small radiator was not designed to accommodate.

Don't know that it would help much, but how's the coolant? Thermostat?

Thanks Guys. The truck has an aftermarket aluminum radiator which came with the truck when I bought it. The AC kit I installed in the truck's cooling radiator steals a bunch of the airflow from the engine radiator. Every time I make an improvement I lose ground! Would putting a Radiator out of a 350 be a help? and will I have to do a bunch of blacksmithing to get it to fit! I really want to be done in the engine-room! Although I should probably replace the master cylinder. But who knows what kind of problems that will cause!?

I'd tend to stay w/the alum rad. Also, you sound right on, with installing a shroud. More blades on the fan also. Ensure blades are properly spaced from the rad, now, and within the shroud-opening later.
