Trying to hook up divorced choke

My '66 has a 1970 350 in it, Quadrajet (7040511) with the divorced choke. The choke was not on it when I got it. I've rebuilt the carb which runs good once warm, and have purchased a new coil, cover, and choke rod. The intake does have a cover plate with about a 4" heat tube that runs down into the manifold.

For the life of me I can't figure out how these parts go together. I don't even know if I have the right parts. Does anyone have a pic or diagram of how all of this stuff goes together? Where does the choke coil bolt down to?

On the pass side of manifold you should see a machined spot where the choke assembly mounts, it has one screw hole and another hole where a locator pin drops into, this is directly below the choke linkage on the carb. I will shoot a picture of mine later if you need it. Not hard to install at all.

Does it mount on top of a plate, or does it mount over the open hole on the manifold? None of my parts seem to line up...

Ok, this is what happens when you mix and match Quadrajets and manifolds.
Some of the little bi-metal heat stove/coils mount parallel to the carbs and some of them mount perpendicular.
As well, some of the little heat stoves have their lower fastening screw hole on the left...and some on the right.
I have a similar issue on my '72 truck that I resolved. I am running the correct '72 Quadrajet, but my intake manifold is the 350/300hp of the chevy cars which has a different mounting for the little heat stove...so improvisation was req'd
After the mounting is resolved....which shouldn't be too tough, getting the little connection rod correctly set to unwind the choke will be the next hurdle.
So.....Post a pic and we can help you out and we'll go from there.

I believe those are two different chokes. The new one you have should screw and sit flat on the manifold. The manifold you have is for the hot air choke.

Have you run the numbers on your intake. Im not certain but I think its a lot newer than 1970.

That's what I thought. I ran the numbers on the carb, and on the block, but not on the intake....I've just got to quit assuming previous owners had my end results in mind...

14007380. I can't find matches on any of the lists of intakes, but a couple of random forum quotes show it is a late 70's, or a 1978.

This might be my only option for a choke? looks like rigging the divorced one to the wrong intake would be a lot of work...unless someone has already done this...

If you go the electric route you'll need to fix your choke linkage. I see the secondary lock out arm is not in place as well as a spring hooked to the choke pull-off that shouldn't be. Someone's had it apart and likely not put back togethor right.

And that pic was after I pulled the bailing wire off! I rebuilt it, but put it back how I found it. Any good pics of the right way for it to go together?

I have that choke spring on my truck, and that manifold is definitely incorrect. The spot for the choke should be level, not angled.

I have found that divorced chokes can be a royal pain. You will have far less trouble if you can find one that has never been married.

Those images were exactly what I needed, and the intake and carb definitely don't match up. I think my best option without grabbing another carb or intake is to go with a manual choke. I'm going to fab up a bracket where the heat tube cover goes and see what I can come up with. Gonna take me a few days...

I am facing the same situation except I don't have the divorced choke parts. My intake has an adapter plate on it for the choke to mount on. I also have a carb spacer, so I'd have to fabricate (bend a coathanger) for it to work once I buy the divorced choke. I think all you need is the plate.
