Where can I buy a gun rack that fits a sliding glass rear window for a 77 chevy truck?

Why run a gun rack, good way for your deer rifle to get stolen, most of the boys i went to HS with had the pouch that snapped or screwed in behind the seat with the sleeve for the rifle.

also 90% of the old farmers around here who had them didn't have rifles up in them but cattle prods or sorting poles.... some kept an old .22 in them... this day and age the .22 would be nice if you could find ammo

I have a gun rack in my truck and never have problems. Dont leave them in there and make sure its ok to openly display them.

I just put one of the old school racks in my crew cab. it screws above and below the window. I bought the three gun but wish i had bought the two gun instead, its too cramped for lever actions with scopes...I bought it at BI-mart ...local to pacific north west .....I think.....and I pull them out when I dont want to display them.Cops here are fine with them though.

I think most gun racks are universal fit, they had adjustment sliders if i recall. You will want to find yourself one of the metal ones, the plastic ones were known to break, having a rifle or a hot shot fall on your head on the highway isn't fun

a quick search of walmart.com showed one that may not be availiable, but a local store may still have them unfortunately it is plastic.

I would think you could mount the window racks under the rear window behind the seat.
The critters won't see your rifles or shotguns that way.

In my '87 I mounted mine under the window behind the seat. Worked fine. No problems.

as soon as i put the headliner in my truck im putting a two gun overhead rack in it

I'm not a fan of gun racks but I'd mount it out of view under the rear window and behind the seat. No real need to have in in plain view. It's not like you're going to need to grab it real quick. Plus the best way to deter thieves is to not let them see it in the first place. Same with stereo equiptment, if you advertise it then you better be ready to have it stolen.

So you take the guns out and carry them in with you where ever you go. It only takes a moment to steal something. Thanks for the name calling for voicing my opinion.

Mostly the reason old farmers or ranchers here need it is for varmint control, coyotes after new calves, if you have to put a cow down. Then once November rolls around its convenient for the ride to the deer stand. Thats if the Wardens don't harass you for "road hunting" which is despicable in itself.

Personally in this day and age i prefer to keep it out of sight, plenty of reasons to carry a good rifle in the truck. If i were a better shot with a pistol I'd just carry a Ruger single action in .45 long colt. with some practice and skill its just as useful as a rifle out on the farm.

so my personal preference is the pouch that hangs behind the seat, but i do like the vertical setup on that site.

i dont take my guns to town, not rifles anyway, for town i have a glock, why would you go somewhere where you would leave your gun in the truck?

and if you are going to get butthurt over me calling you a goofball maybe you should quit this truck forum peopled by (mostly) men and join something like a my little pony forum!

For me the gun rack is a great place to keep them during an outing to the woods.....keeps them from getting banged around and still quickly accessible for that unsuspecting critter that needs to be hammered with a 20 grain to the brain........

Some Walmarts have cheap ones for like 15 bucks that are adjustable and fit between the glass and the molding. I mounted one in my '78 and havent had any problems yet.... I just dont drive around with my guns in it unless im going to the range to shoot or going hunting... too many thieves these days......

The gun rack will be used to carry deer rifle going to and from hunting, as I will have a hunting partner ride with me.No room for gun to set between us.

I kinda wanted to put a rack in mine, to put my shotgun in when I go shooting with my dad, or leave a baseball bat in it :p

but I recently attached a holster under the drivers side of the bench to the 'framework'.
I've got pretty big hands and I don't have any trouble reaching between the seat and floor to pull out my piston. and it's a double stack magazine. would probably be more roomy with a single stack or small caliber revolver.

I have had one of these “out-of-sight-racks” in my 95’ GMC since it was new, I pack an Rem 870 Pump around it, never been whacked in the head. It is a lot easier to get it in & out then the window rack in my 79- K-30.

Interesting info; My 95’ GMC is an extended cab, rack sits above & behind front passenger area, I have had folks get in & sit in the rear seat and after traveling down the road a piece all of sudden say “you have a gun up there! ”: Their cool with it, just surprised they never saw it when they get in..
